Among these three, Aneek is the best ..My personal faves were never winners but they were the best viz Amanat, Nihira, Hemachandra.

If your bolded statement is true then it's very ironic because apparently they did what they didn't intend to do back then and now when that is their main purpose they fail to do so.

I know it's ironic, but it's true I think. At that time SRGMP was just like antakshri, have some singers come and perform and then go home😆. But now it's like a contest between so many participants, they all have try their best to get that contract and win.
Well I don't watch the old SRGM, but i did watch the old punjabi version of it. All they did was have 3 or 4 rounds have some people perform and then in each episode the judges eliminated a few. after 2 or three weeks they chose a winner. And then the same thing would start again. So there were no series or anything, and I think the same happened with Hindi SRGM.

OK well let m explain the format to you. There were series, the format was kind of like world cup. In one episode 2 boys and 2 girls would compete. There would be 3-4 rounds and 1 boy and 1 girl would be declared the winners of that episode...the other 2 would be eliminated. These 2 would advance to the next round which was semi-finals. There would be about 8 episodes in the first round, 4 semi-finals and 1 megafinal. Shreya Ghoshal was the winner of a megafinal. The judges would change every episode but would always be some very big names of the music industry and the megafinals would have a large pannel of judges consisting of many living legends of the time. In between during Shaan's time they changed the format a bit to this thing called "roll-over" but then they switched back to this format again. Then they started C05 which was similar except it introduced the gharanas. C07 and C09 have been evolving the format of C05.
