She stood holding the infant securely in her hand paid the auto driver. She took her bag from the rickshaw holding the baby and taking a deep breath she walked to the huge Iron Gate put her bag down and pushed opened the gate. It took her mighty strength to open a gate like that. She looked around to see the guard he was absent from the place. She picked up her bag walked to the porch and rang the bell. <br><br><br><br><br>He was immersed in his work as usual the phone rang and he picked it up absently. The person from the other side almost barked. The conversation was disconnected by the bang of the receiver. He stared at the receiver like he was seeing a strange object. In another few minutes he wrapped up his work and walked hurriedly to the door.<br><br><br><br>She was sitting by the mirror getting ready to go for a party. She did final touch up to her face got up and straightened her expensive sari. The door of her room opened hurriedly and her daughter stood hesitantly looking at her.<br>'What?' asked Jigyasa Bali.<br><br><br><br>He had been upset for past few days for reason unknown to him. Something was wrong he had felt it. He looked at his new suit to wear it for the party he was supposed to attend with his mother. He picked up his suit lazily his door opened and his brother stood looking at him. "Bhai come to the living room grand pa want us there now.'<br>Ranveer looked at his brother's serious face and nodded.<br>She was in the prayer room the woman in her later fifties. Doing her usual pooja. The butler knocked on the door to get her attention. The woman turned to look at the butler he announced. 'Sir, want you to come to the living room.'<br><br><br><br><br>She stood in the living room holding the sleeping baby to her chest protectively and stood before the owner of the mansion.<br><br><br>Uday Walia looked at the petite woman who stood in the centre of the room wearing a cotton sari and holding the infant and looking at him with determination. There was something about her. His attention was diverted to the door as his son walked hurriedly towards the room and stopped at the sight of the woman and the baby. He looked questioningly at his father who was seated on the settee. All the members walked in to the living room and stopped at the sight of the woman and the baby. Every one of them looked at Uday Walia for an explanation. The older man in his early sixties was on his feet as his family gathered in the living room.<br><br>He looked each one of them and said, 'she is Bani Dixit and she is here to seek her child's father.' <br>There was pin drop silence in the room. Everyone looked from one to the other and murmured. <br><br>Jigyasa and their Mausi sat on the nearest chair. If they did not they were sure to fall on the ground.<br><br>'Hush! I want to know who the father is?' thundered Uday Walia.<br>Jai his son looked at the girl and smirked. Ranveer and Sahil looked from one to the other.<br>'Speak up..' shouted Uday Walia impatiently. <br>'Dad.. what in God's name is wrong with you?' you believe someone like her?' he shook his head in disbelief. 'How can you even let her into the house in the first place?' He scowled at her.<br>Bani did not wince she had expected all this and worse. It was the old man's grace he took her into the house. She looked at the baby in her hand and patted his chubby cheeks. <br>'Enough Jai,' Uday Walia stopped him and looked at Ranveer and Sahil who shrank from their grandfather's intense gaze.<br>'Speak up..' he repeated.<br><br>Jigyasa looked from one face to the other. Her brother was a chronic bachelor but her kids, could they be the culprits? Ranveer? Sahil? No' no.. that can't be'' she looked at the woman loathingly why had she come like a lightening to consume all of their happiness? 'God ! she called God sincerely this time.<br>Mausi looked shocked. Could this be Ranveer's sahil's.. Bagwan!!<br>Uday Walia studies each of them and turned to the young woman. 'Lady speak up now, it's your turn to tell me the truth.'<br>Bani screened every ones face and finally it rested on his. Her brows fluttered in recognition.<br>All the eyes looked at him.
