Very well written post!
Don't know much about Gujrati traditions and customs, but one can get the feel of the serial to be authentic and not put on!
The detailing is fantastic, right from the costumes, to the sets, to the dialouges and the inter-personal relationships shown!
The ensemble cast of actors is impressive to say the least, led very ably and strongly by Ronit Roy, who surprisingly doesn't let his star-aura get in way of playing the character! He comes across as Dharamraj Mahiyavanshi, the hard-headed Diamond Merchant and never as Ronit Roy, the super-star of Indian Television on Bandini and that is where the serial scores so beautifully! Same goes to other actors, albeit it could be attributed to the fact that most of them are new faces, yet fit wonderfully into their respective characters!
There aren't many serials which are able to get their audience to connect so fast with the story and characters and Bandini seems to have hit the nail right on the head by showcasing a un-pretentious yet emotional story, set against a rural background, rarely seen on television!
This is defintely one of Ekta and Balaji Telefilms best effort in a very long time. Though, I feel that the litmus test for the serial will come only after Dharamraj and Santo get married and the show focuses on their relationship. Ekta has handled a lot of such relationships in her serials quite well, but invariably blundered later on....hope she takes it slowly and steadily and gives a gradual build up to their marriage, convincing the audience that two people who are apart in every possible manner can still end up falling in love and remain so!

You are right everyone ...

Just like I beleive too, the REAL test for the show begins NOW .. I am sure that Bandini must have acquired a decent set of viewers in these 2 weeks.. but I am dead sure that the number will increase rapidly if EK shows the same sensibility and prevents Bandini from turning into a sob-saga .. well obviously Santo's tale is not going to be happy .. but I just hope EK does not make it melodramatic .. I guess we can place this much trust on her !

Dont let us down EK!

We are loving Bandini !

Exactly Bavie. Right now this man is blinded by his greed and ego and wants to get the consignment done come hell or high water. All his actions right now are completely opposite to what he would be doing otherwise. That is what the Guruji pointed out to after observing DM interacting with Nanaji in front of the workers. Did he really mean it? Or was it an act to elevate himself in the eyes of the workers? Because as soon as he gets out of the room and in the corridor - his body language changes completly (Kudos to Ronit Roy for that - he did it brilliantly). The reality of he has put himself and Santo into will hit him only after the consignment is out the door and his Mahayavanshi Works gets the order. It is then that he is going to question himself - How Did I Allow That To Happen To Me? Now What?

Too true Hema ..

This man does not mind misleading his men .. into making them beleive that he treats his workers as family, that he eats the same food as them , that he bears no prejudices in his mind against any of them .. but the fact is that DM does not forgive, and he does not forget- couple that fact with the reality that he's a supreme taskmaster and you have a disastrously deceptive combination ..

He is going to have to bare his true side to Santo once he gets married .. for how long he will be able to maintain his dual-faced personality is going to be an interesting watch!

From the set of the DM/Santo marriage it already seems it will be a sob saga...can see DM's cruel words reducing Santo to creep into a corner and cry.

Actually there is one thing Ekta has forgotten, the caste system...the rich would never allow a lower class person to step a foot into their house...whatever business was done would be done outside in the porch. Here a higher cast DM is actually taking a lower cast, I guess a potter since the girls are shown making pots...as a bride.

I think all the reasons will be given by either DM or Dharamraj in tonight's episode .. well yeah the initial days WILL be sad- just like they were in the initial episodes of Balika Vadhu ..it's just not possible to show some cheer in the initial marriage days!

I think the "chemistry" thing has a lot to do with writing... when the writing by the creatives and dialogue writers is good, the scenes have great potential to be good also.
Trust me, I've seen cases where jodis look embarassing together, and yet the writers were able to work wonders. But this time we have television's greatest (Ronit Sir of course!), along with brilliant writers... and so chances are that the outcome will be great! 👍🏼
God bless.

Totally right Mango Bhai .. bang on!

The pair can be a success .. half the job is done when the scenes are written keeping the actors and the characters, both in mind! Atleast that is what I maintain ..
