Koh-i-noor no more
Another show succumbs to low audience ratings

Certainly, audience ratings are the only deciding factor of a show's life. Even directors like Ravi Rai met with the same fate. Remember, how Zee's Kasshish suddenly went off air when it didn't show its presence on the audience ratings charts?
And now Sahara One's Koh-i-noor is following suit. The thriller is going off air and tonight happens to be the last episode. Only this time, the actors know about it. Ankur Nayyar aka Samar Khanna says, "I believe the show was planned for 100 episodes but it is winding up after 70 episodes. Low audience ratings could be a probable reason for its winding up early."
Creative head Nikhat offers, "The channel has taken the decision of taking it off air. Actually, in the 10 pm time slot, the thriller faces competition from some big serials. So the thriller maybe re-telecast at an earlier time."
But will the show not face competition even if it is telecast in an earlier slot? "Not as much as we face it now. Right now, we are winding up the show with a logical end. It ends with no one finding the diamond, because to show that the diamond has been discovered, it would require more episodes,"she says.
However, Sahara COO Purnendu Bose refutes the winding up of the thriller having to do anything with low audience ratings. All he says is, "This is not a soap to go on for 500 episodes." On mentioning that the thriller was planned for 100 episodes, he says, "What had to be told in 100 episodes has been told in 60-65 episodes. But, we may have a sequel for this." Will they find the diamond, we ask and he maintains, "I can't let the story out."
