After watching yesterday's episodes, there were a slew of comments on youtube with fans complaining that the love scenes were 'too bold for television'. I thought this would be an interesting discussion. DMG has always had overtly romantic scenes from the beginning. Be it the Heer-Ranjha-almost-kiss scene, or Armaan coming to Ridhima's house drenched in rain. I've seen some fans say that the latest scenes are vulgar. While I REALLY enjoyed the Raath Ka Nasha sequences, I felt yesterday's scene was a bit out of character. Ridhima in a nightie taking off Armaan's shirt, and them almost kissing? Not something Ridhima would do. And same goes for all the other 'almost kiss' scenes. Is that really necessary? I mean, I'm not complaining, I know a lot of us enjoy it (and I do too), but love scenes can still be constructed beautifully without the characters always having to try to kiss eachother. Remember the terrace scenes pre-confession? I mean I wouldn't call them love scenes, but they were definetely romantic scenes. And AR's love, IMO, came off stronger than any of these touching-kissing scenes do. It's not Bollywood, it's television. We really haven't seen more than a hug between characters in other hindi serials. 😆

I don't think these scenes are bold, but perhaps a little too much for television? I'm glad that DMG shows a realism, in that the overwhelming of emotions between the two characters that love eachother, however, I still feel it to be a bit out of Ridhima's character.Or perhaps people only feel that way because there is a massive overload of overtly romantic AR scenes?

For those that will contest that the Jan 28, 2008 sequence was also out of character, I don't think it was. It was shot beautifully, no vulgarity, and both characters were clearly carried away in the midst of overwhelming emotions. Both realize that it was a mistake, and we're cut to a scene where Ridhima is crying and feeling guilty for what she did. Now we have Ridhima entering Armaan's room, taking his shirt off and almost kissing him.

Maybe someone should have warned me about yesterday's episode before I watched it with my parents. 😆

Again, I'm not complaining as I do enjoy these scenes quite a lot 😉 What do you guys think? Are the love scenes too bold for television?

Lets refrain from using the two S words :)

I'm talking about love scenes. I don't think that scene was bold. There are many female characters on television portrayed in short skirts. And I dont' think this was out of Ridhima's character. There was an explanation for why she wore those clothes. If she randomly showed up in Sanjeevani wearing a mini-skirt, out of nowhere, with no explanation, then yes, it would be out of character. But we're shown Ridhima wants to dress up in western clothes to prove a point. It's only for herself. Armaan wasn't even suppose to see her!

I do agree on what u've said here, many female protaganists do that on TV, but Ridhima's skin was shown since that short skirt scene day, her top was almost falling off and Armaan was kissing her, Mind you that scene was Nice! But thats i wud also call Vulgarity, So theres nothing new in yesterday's dance, Its been like that since january 2007 to now thats 2009, so i have to disagree with u😕

Yes i do agree when You say DMG scenes thats AR scenes are bold! But This first began in Jan 2007 when Ridhimma showed her skin wearing her sister's tank top and mini skirt, that scene was superb for Hotness! But yeah Boldness began then only, so yesterdays dance in Ammy's room was nothing new and bold to me because history is repeating itself!
So i have to disagree here! But yes Great topic by you!

Let's no go to Ridhima's character, Because She has changed so much & so fast, that I'm unable to accept that this is the same Ridhima who consciously covered herself with her hands when Armaan saw her dressed up in a mini skirt. My head starts spinning when I think of the number of layers Ridhima's character has 😆
Coming back to the topic, I am OK with these scenes only if the storyline demands them. However, In DMG, These scenes have been thrown in randomly to boost the "Entertainment" factor. There is no proper storyline supporting such scenes, and hence they look out of place. The sudden upsurge of dance sequences in DMG shows how hard the creatives are trying to make the Traditional formula of entertainment work, but are failing miserably. Infact, It now looks extremely silly, and leaves me with a question mark on my face, "Where the hell did that come from ?" 😕
If such scenes are done esthetically (without a flop bollywood number playing in the background), then they might even look beautiful. These scenes cannot make up for the lack of storyline, that's why they make me cringe. I'm left wondering as to when the track will move forward. But I guess I need to understand that Bollywood songs+item dance can always save a drowning serial/movie, Even if both of them are crap.

finally. i was waiting for an interesting topic. thank you rox. you rocks! 😆
yes. definitely cant watch this show with family. i dont complain about it when it is done right and it was definitely not done right. raat ka nasha made sense. even the july 10th kiss on the chest was fine because it was this overwhelming emotion but yesterdays scene was almot planned for probably well in advance just because there was a suri character. its not something you would expect her to do at all. first they make her all sweet and wholesome that she cant even tell her parents or hold is hand most of the time but then she is stripping him. thats interesting. i am sure ar fans will disagree because they liked what they saw but if u think about it, all it shows that no character has a constant track.
