------------the next morning---------------

Aastha wakes up early and she sees that Shubh is still sleeping. She thinks that he looks cold, so she puts a blanket over him, she goes to take a shower, and then goes to the pooja room and starts the aarti.

Hearing her voice everyone else in the house gets up, and they make their way to the pooja room.

Aastha is done with the aarti and turns around, surprised to see everyone there.

She first gives the aarti to vanraj, and takes his blessing, then she goes to chachaji, then chachi, and takes their blessings also.

She then gives the aarti to Divya, Shabd, and Swayam. Then she finally gets to Shubh and gives him the aarti and Prasad.

V: beta u have already taken control of the house, I am proud of u.

Chachi: im proud that my bahu has taken up her responsibility in this house.

Aastha: thanks chachiji.

Chachi: ok come on let me show u the kitchen, so u can make something sweet, its ur first day in this house, so ur supposed to make something sweet to eat.

Aastha: ok, but what should I make

Chachi: well Shubh likes kheer

Aastha: ok

So Aastha goes to the kitchen and starts making breakfast.

Ramu kaka: arre beti, tum sab kuch kyun bana rahi ho.

Aastha: koi baat nehi ramu kaka, main sab kuch bana lungi, aap yeh chai papaji, chachaji, sur chachiji ko dedo.

RK: thik hai beti

--------------at the breakfast table---------------

Sha: wow looks like ramu kaka was in a good mood today, look at all this food

Rk: I didn't make all this Shabd beta, Aastha bahu did

Sha: thanks bhabhi, yum my favorite aloo paranthas, no one is getting any of these

Divya: who wants ur paranthas, bhabhi made halwa for me

Aastha: do u two always fight

Div: who can get along with this duffer

Shabd: shut up Divya

Chachi: tum dono band kar abhi, yeh Shubh kahan reh gaya. Aastha can u go see if Shubh needs anything.

Aastha: ji

Aastha slowly walks into the room

She sees Shubh getting dressed

Aastha: woh chachiji is calling u

Shubh: haan I'll just come. Shit

Asatha: kya hua

Shubh: nothing, the button is broken

Aastha: here I can fix it

Shubh: no its ok ill just wear another shirt

Aastha: no, I can fix it

She gets a needle and thread, and goes to Shubh, they are very close to each other, and Shubh is just staring at Aastha, he has a weird feeling, but he just ignores it, thinking that it's nothing

Aastha is done and she goes very close to Shubh to cut off the thread.

Shubh: thanks

Aastha: no problem

They walk downstairs, where everyone is waiting

Shubh: wow this much food, is kaka in a good mood

Everyone laughs

Shubh: what

Chachi: nothing it so easy to tell that u and Shabd are brothers

Shubh: what?

Chachi: kuch nahi, and kaka didn't make all this Aastha did

Shubh: oh

Shabd: bhabhi aren't u going to serve bhai

Chachi: haan beti serve him

Shubh: wow kheer

Aastha serves Shubh some kheer and is nervous wondering if he'll like it or not

Shubh slowly takes a bite

Shabd: so

Shubh: its great, thanks

Chachi gives Aastha a necklace, as a shagun

Shubh: ok im going

Vanraj: where?

Shubh: office, where else

Div: what's this bhaiyu u just got married and ur already going to work

Chachu: she's right Shubh

Shubh: but I have a lot of work pending

Chachi: no work for a week

Shubh: but chachi, I have a big contract, and its really important

V: Shubh no means no

Shubh: but dad…………

V: no ur taking Aastha to her house for pak pheras then the two of u r going on a honeymoon

Aastha: papa, it might be important, we can always go out later

Shubh: dad please

V: fine but u have to go as soon as u get this contract

Shubh: thanks dad

V: Aastha go get ready and Shubh will drop u off at ur house, then he will pick u up on the way home from work

Aastha: ji

Shubh drops Aastha off at her house, and they go and meet Aastha's dad and Mahi

M: di, I missed u so much. Hi jiju

Shu: hi Mahi

Aastha: where's papa

M: he hasn't gotten up yet

A: what?

M: yea

A: is he ok?

They go to prenendu's room, and see him lying there

Aastha goes to his bedside and sees that her dad is just lying there

She calls out to him, but he doesn't react

Mahi looks at aastha and both get worried

Aastha: papa uthiye na

Mahi: papa, papa, get up

Aastha: starts shaking him: pa……….

Shubh comes over and he checks aastha's dad's pulse, and he realizes that he is dead

Aastha is not moving while mahi is crying

Shubh is shocked, and he calls his parents

He tells mahi to take care of aastha

He calls the doctor, to do an autopsy

--------------------------a little while later--------------------

Everyone is at aastha's house, at the funeral (ya I know the funeral doesn't happen that quickly but here it does)

Everyone is wearing white

Aastha is still in shock

They are about to take the body, but

Aastha: no where r u taking my papa

Chachi: beta

Aastha: dekho na chachi yeh lok papa ko le jarehe hain

Chachi: beta tumare papa ab is duniya mein nehi rahe

Aastha: nahi chachiji papa abhi zinda hain

Chachi: beta hosh mein aao

Aastha: nahi mere papa ko kuch nahi hua, papa untiye na please, dekho yeh lok kya keh rahe hain, please utiye na, please papa

Chachi: shubh tum aastha ko samjaho

Shubh: aastha

Aastha: nahi mere papa ko kuch nahi hua

Shubh: aastha hosh mein aao

Aastha: nahi mere papa ko kuch nahi hua

Shubh: AASTHA (he slaps her)

Aastha comes to her senses and starts crying, and hugs shubh

Shubh: dekho aastha, you have to be strong, tume mahi ka kyal rakna hai

Mahi: di

Aastha lets go of shubh and hugs her sister

------------------------------ the funeral is over and everyone is sitting at aastha's dad's house-------------------------------

Vanraj: beta der ho rahi hain ghar chalein

Shubh: jee dad, umm mahi tum bhi apne bags pack karlo

Mahi: huh?

Shubh: haan mahi aab tum humare saath rahogi, right dad

Vanraj:of course, dekho mahi aab tum humare saath raho gi

Mahi: lekin main kaise

Shubh: Mahi we won't let u stay here alone, u're coming with us

Chachi: haan Mahi beta tum humare saath hi rahogi

Mahi: ji

-------------------------------everyone goes back to ranawat house----------------------------

Aastha gets Mahi settled in her new room and goes back to her room

She sees Shubh getting ready to go to bed

Aastha: woh umm mujhe aapse kuch kehna hai, woh thanks

Shubh: for what

Aastha: aapne Mahi ko yahaan le aaye

Shubh: its no problem

Aastha: but still I wanted to say thanks

Shubh: dekho Aastha I did what I thought was right, and Mahi is like a sister to me, so I don't mind her staying here, and anyways if she's here then u will have some company and u wont have to worry about her

Aastha: thanks for everything

Shubh: Aastha woh I wanted to say sorry for what I did today

Aastha: for what

Shubh: when I slapped u

Aastha: don't worry jab papa chalege tab mujhe hosh nehi tha, aapne jo kiya woh sahi tha

Shubh: its getting late, I think we should go to sleep

And so they went to sleep Aastha on the bed and Shubh on the couch

But Shubh couldn't fall asleep

He kept thinking about the hug Aastha had given him, he knew that Aastha was sad because of her fathers death, but he had felt something during that hug, it made him want to keep her close to him. He'd never felt this way before. He thought back to this morning, and the way Aastha was taking care of everyone in the family, and this morning when she had sewn his button for him, and the taste of the kheer was amazing. Everything was perfect, but now she was depressed because her father had passed away. Sleep slowly overcame him and he went to sleep with the thoughts of Aastha in his mind.

(I'm going to try to finish this ff before the forum gets locked, I don't want to leave it in the middle)
