Slumdog Millionaire is not the best work of A.R Rehman - Mahesh Bhatt

Slumdog Millionaire is not the best work of A.R Rehman - Mahesh Bhatt'Slumdog Millionaire', which is presently the talk of the nation for being nominated for 10 Oscar Awards this year, is given an insight by Indian Film industry's most experienced Director-Producer and pioneer in filmmaking, Mr. Mahesh Bhatt, who is also often referred to as The Encyclopedia.

'Slumdog Millionaire' is going to do no use to India and it is not at all an Indian Film is what he says. "It is Danny Boyle's film and he is just using India's finest talent to hit hard at the Oscars this year. I think the film would be very good as is being praised by many and I don't criticize its content. But my question is, why is it that the same Indian talent is never recognized by the Oscar Jury when it independently enters the race of awards? When it is a foreign film with Indians, you honor it and when it is an Indian Film of same caliber, why not even have a look at it", asks Mahesh Bhatt.

'Slumdog Millionaire' might be starring Anil Kapoor and Irfaan Khan in the film, but Mahesh Bhatt doesn't think it to be as best of their works. In fact he believes that there are much better Indian Films that they have worked in. He says, "Anil Kapoor is just playing a cameo in the film and is not in the main lead. The main leads in fact are not Indian actors even. So it is just like making hay while the sun shines for Danny Boyle, who is using the Indian effect for grabbing an Oscar."

In Delhi to promote his film 'Raaz-The Mystery Continues', India's most expensive horror film till date which released yesterday worldwide, Bhatt saab very confidently said that 'Slumdog Millionaire' is not the best work of even A.R Rehman. "If you see his work in the past, he has produced such a quality product that it shouldn't even take a minute to award this legend. His music in 'Taal', 'Rang De Basanti' or even 'Lagaan', which was nominated for the Oscars, stood nowhere in eyes of the Oscars' Jury. However, when his music has a white connection, it comes to the priority list of the awards. Why? So is it that we Indians are incapable of making it to Oscars? Or it is just that we would be used for other's benefit and just left unrecognized," questions Mahesh Bhatt.

He firmly said that India is on path of yet another slavery and if others can't respect our talent, they have no right to use us. He also said, "In my opinion, if any Indian related to this film gets the Oscar, it should not be kept in India, because we want to actually win the Oscar and not be given as an offering."

Mahesh Bhatt who is busy promoting his film 'Raaz The Mystery Continues' is very confident about his film and says that "I don't want to make any comparisons of my film with 'Slumdog'. It may be a very nice film; however I can't comment on it as I haven't seen it. But yes, RTMC is what I can guarantee you is the perfect 21st century horror film. Never can a film like this in this genre be made again."

Emraan Hashmi and Kangna Ranaut saw the first day first show of RTMC film at G3S Cinemas at Rohini in Delhi on Friday amongst the Full House audience and were mobbed for appraisals. "I am highly touched with audiences' reaction. The other day, my daughter found a beggar on the streets of Mumbai singing 'Maahi', and there and then I knew that there is nothing stopping Raaz now. It is going to be a genuine hit," signs off Bhatt

I usually agree with Mahesh Bhatt's views no matter how radical they are. But here, I am not even gonna bother making sense of his asinine views. Other than that, this is not Rahman's best work, agreed. But neither is Curious case of Benjamin Button Brad Pitt's best work. Both are nominated.....so applaud them. Is it really that hard? Oh no....it must be....since a british dude made it! Give me a break. Danny Boyle did not show the Scottish in great light either in Trainspotting, I mean they were just a bunch of good for nothing heroin smoking crackheads. The Scottish did not have a problem with that. Whats up with everyone in India barking at this man?!
I mean its really funny. All these bollywood people and directors (especially Mahesh Bhatt......dude come on! we all know Zakhm was your only good work!!!) copy all these hollywood movies into bollywood 3rd class remakes and give their interviews in English even when asked in Hindi.....and yet they have a problem when a Westerner makes a film about India and actually excels at it! God....this pisses me off so much. If you don't want the white man to make an Indian film, then stop ass kissing and aping the white man's culture!!!!

Looks like it's a new trend passed on by our 40+ actors to make a controversial statement just in time for their movie release and let everyone scrutinize and talk about them. Publicity!
Okay Mr. Bhatt! your Raaz 2 is doing good. Now go write a new script on your girl friend, you and your sad background then get inspired by another Hollywood film and pass it on as yours.

Flaviya, Saaransh was Bhatt's best film ever. If you haven't then watch it. Anupam Kher debuted as a 60 year old.
An interesting anecdote: Anupam Kher is 1 year younger to Anil Kapoor but always played his dad or older brother. 😆
Before Murder and even before Zakhm, there was a Mahesh Bhatt who actually made sensible films. Watch Kaash. It is so real and beautiful. Also Arth though he used his private life in that and have since used in many of his films.
Zakhm was actually just a rehash of his old movies and little bit personal life.

^^^Thanks!!! I have not watched any of those. I kind of remember Kaash though...is it sort of like Kramer Vs Kramer with Dimple and Jackie? And I've heard of Saaransh and Arth but never watched it. I am going to make sure I watch those now. Anyways, I thought Zakhm was the best from all those I watched.......sadak, dil hai ki maanta nahin, Dastak, Aashiqui and some more that I don't remember right now.

Flaviya,
Kaash is just a little bit like K Vs. K, that is the main plot of troubled marriage and a kid but rest of the film is so touching. I watched it couple of months back and choked on my tears. 😭 Dimple Kapadia was wonderful and not for once you will think that she was acting. It was all real. Those were some real movies on real families.
Watch all of 80s Mahesh Bhatt and we can actually have a discussion on it. Fabulous work! Aashiqui onwards he lost it.
Zakhm was inspired by his life. His father Nanabhai Bhatt (Nagarjuna's character) left his Muslim mother and him and married someone else. From then he copied so many other films.
BTW did you check the thread where I mentioned Just Mohabbat and Avantika? If you find videos, please PM me too. I used to love the show as a kid too.
