Bhatt saheb deserves a standing ovation for saying what he said. šŸ‘
Slumdog Millionaire is not an Indian film at all and AR Rahman has given out much better compositons earlier.
Why wasnt his hardwork recognised then?
Danny Boyle has used India to gain what he has gained because of people who are blinded.

No not Naam Maya...lemme google it!
and how about Arth...you liked that one???
I love that song tum itna jo muskura rahe ho where Raj Kiran gets Shabana to cut a small pastry for her B'day😳

Flaviya,
Kaash is just a little bit like K Vs. K, that is the main plot of troubled marriage and a kid but rest of the film is so touching. I watched it couple of months back and choked on my tears. 😭 Dimple Kapadia was wonderful and not for once you will think that she was acting. It was all real. Those were some real movies on real families.
Watch all of 80s Mahesh Bhatt and we can actually have a discussion on it. Fabulous work! Aashiqui onwards he lost it.
Zakhm was inspired by his life. His father Nanabhai Bhatt (Nagarjuna's character) left his Muslim mother and him and married someone else. From then he copied so many other films.
BTW did you check the thread where I mentioned Just Mohabbat and Avantika? If you find videos, please PM me too. I used to love the show as a kid too.

Oh okay....thanks! I'll make sure I watch them some time soon. And yea I read that thread.....I've not found those videos yet, but if I find it, I'll let ya know!😃
And I absolutely love that song from Zakhm.....it is such a sad song!!

^^Not Naam? Hmm..google and tell me. I haven't heard or seen this tele film.

I mentioned Arth. Aah! that song and Shabana's eyes😭. Shabana actually spoke with her eyes in that song. Whatever happened to Raj Kiran? Last heard he was in a mental institution in Bangalore.
Arth was the film where Smita Patil portrayed Parveen Babi's schizophrenia. After the movie, she was so upset with Bhatt for using her that she flew to US and lived with her guru U G krishnamurthi (U G K).
Recently Bhatt mentioned that he is planning a film on U G K.
We came here to criticize Bhatt's claim instead praising his 80s work. The guy needs to bring back his 80s magic and stop with all these soft po*ns he dishes out.

Because none of the movies that had AR Rahman's music score were nominated in the mainstream category before or heck.....I don't know maybe the OSCAR jury just did not like them?! Its just a thought you know.
Danny Boyle has used India to gain what he has gained because of people who are blinded.
Oh in that case, he must be an illusionist then because he sure as heck blinded the Scottish as well.
And if it makes you feel any better, India got off easy because Scottish people are portrayed much worse in Trainspotting! Danny Boyle has no agenda attached. He treats all his movies with equal dedication and sincerety. I'm glad he's finally being recognized by mainstream hollywood.
I don't understand what people are complaining about. I mean seriously...if the OSCAR jury was so biased and racist, wouldn't they just nominate Danny Boyle for best direction and Simon Beaufoy for best screenplay! After all....they are white!! I mean why should they nominate an Indian if they are just so goddarned racist and parochial in their view as most people assume?

Maya ...it was "Janam"
it was shown on TV a long time ago!! It was also semi autobiographical coz Kumar gaurav played teh illegitimate son of a film maker who makes his own mark in film making...had a great song too ..." Zindagi...zindagi...kab tumko dekha hai...kab tumko jaana hai...taaron ke sang phulon ke rang mein tumko pana hai...yeh maine thaana hai...apne ghar lana hai"....beautiful lyrics
Parveen babi inspired Woh lamhe too... didnt she...I quite like the film because of Kangana mainly...but she never grew out of that brooding, bordering on crazy style...thats why I didnt like her in fashion
as for Shabana in Arth...woh log hi kuch aur the...shabana, Naseer, Smita patil....😊

Taal had brilliant compositions and AR Rahman's work should have been appreciated and nominated then.
The only reason why he is being recognised now is because of the success Slumdog Millionaire currently has.
Jai Ho is not as great as Ishq Bina from Taal and it never will be.
Why was Taare Zameen Par rejected? It was an applauding film and it should have been nominated.

This line of reasoning is so flawed its not even funny. Taal as a movie wasn't nominated for anything in the Western award shows. Why on earth would its songs be then!? Its not like they randomly pick a song from any aira gaira movie just coz AR Rahman gave a brilliant composition.

Agreed. But isn't that quite obvious. He has composed for the film so if the film gets so many nominations and accolades, his work is bound to be noticed too.

Agreed. But neither was Taal as a movie as good as SD and nor will it ever be.

Please revisit the definition of an applauding film. You may have liked it and thought it was applauding and I liked it too but it was clearly a very manipulative film that did not even deserve to be sent! Much less nominated. The five that are nominated for the foreign section deserve to be there. Besides the subject of dyslexia has been beaten to death in the west......so I'm not surprised or disappointed that TZP did not get nominated. It was an excellent film if all you ever watch is song and dance boy meets girl bollywood movies but if not....it was just another melodramatic, manipulative film that had its good points and bad.
