- Shankar Mahadevan is a Tamil-Indian singer and music composer. An accomplished musician in Tamil cinema
- He is a part of the Shankar Ehsaan Loy trio team that provides music to Bollywood films.
- Shankar Mahadevan was born in Chennai, India
- He learned Indian Classic Music and Carnatic Music in his childhood and started playing Veena at the age of five
- A software engineer by profession and having worked for Oracle Corporation, Shankar's interest in music made him venture into the field of music.
- He got his first break as a playback singer in Chennai film music, collaborating with A. R. Rahman and winning a National Film Award for his song in Kandukondain Kandukondain.
- He later gained more recognition by releasing his first music album called Breathless.
- He later got into music direction and became a part of the Shankar Ehsaan Loy trio, composing music for Bollywood films.

He has also learned music from the renowned Marathi music director Mr. Shrinivas Khale and is comfortable singing Marathi songs too. Recently he sung a beautiful song "Man Udhaan Varyaache..." in Marathi film "Aga bai Arechyaa...".

A truely versatile composer and a singer who is equally comfortable with classical styled songs and western style - a rarity in the music industry!

Shankar Mahadevan is truly the pride of India. He is one of the rare gems and good enough to be recognized as India's best vocalist along with Sonu Nigam. On top of that, he is a master music director always composing music that is not only fresh but also has depth and passion.

There are so many to choose from but my favorite song of his would have to be "Maa" from Taare Zameen Pe

Very true and he is original unlike most of the musicians in the industry. 👏👏👏
