Unfortunately for udit ji, :

1.he was overshadowed by kumar sanu in the early 90's.
2.he never profiled himself even when shanu stopped accepting filmfare awards.. he didnt even come to accept any awards, he just sent aditya narayan to the ceremony.
3.His judging, his way of speaking is made fun of on tv.
4.he is now even overshadowed by his own son.
5.he gets crappy songs like whitw white face and do u wanna partner... he could have sung songs like main agar kahoon and ajab si very well, but he doesn't get such songs as of late.
6.his era was JUST after the rafi kishore era.


yet he has delivered countless amt of hits and his singing is superior stuff.

so what say guys? will he ever become a legend?

I think they all are good but Udit can sing classical as well

He IS a legend. He's given the music industry so much in his melodious voice that catches you like a breath of fresh air. His voice quality is a rare exception even today, it pierces the heart. And all his contributions will be remembered.

well udit has sung sum of the all-time best love songs like pehla nasha in JJWS, chand chupa from hum dil de chuke etc.

the reason udit, sonu, kk n other contemporary singers cannot get the legendary status is bcoz of the foll reasons

1) during rafi n kishore days although v had mukesh, mahendra kapoor etc the former stood out amonst their contemporaries. but 2day its like a kumbh mela out there. singers coming out at the drop of the hat. sumtimes 1 song is sung by 10 sigers for eg. ganan ganan song from lagaan was sung by 7-8 singers. each singer is restricted by the music directors 2 a certain genre. this cripples the singers. wid so many singers around udit is lost in the crowd.

2) the quality of music has gone down. if udit wus sing songs like pehla nasha people will remember him but wid songs like white white face who will remember them. the lyrics r horrible.

3) over exposure. these dayz every tv chanel has sum kinda competition n v see these singers judging them. since v c them day in n day out the feeling of awe is missing. in those dayz if rafi or kishore sang live in radio then people wud b glued 2 their places listening 2 them. but now wid youtube, tv, music videos, remix videos etc the people get bored seeing them again n again.

hence its next to impossible 2 attain the cult status in 2day's world. they shud consider themselves lucky if they don get lost in the crowd n sing different kinds of songs.
