I respect them for the fact that they are so simple and down to earth. They feel their performance is the only thing that matters and they don't pander to any crowd.
Here are some 'dramebaaz' moments from other contestants that S-S never stooped to doing.
Shilpa, Poonam and Rajeshwari's karvachauth celebrations - very filmy, very overdone especially Shilpa's 'pair chhuna' bit. I found Archana very honest and straightforward. Supriya said and did nothing- she niether practiced kc nor did she comment negatively about it. Mind you, I have NOTHING against Karvachauth, I just felt that these 3 contestants were trying to woo the audience.
Manish's constant puja and Bhagwan ka naam lena? Sounds like a way of getting religious housewives and the middle aged crowd to vote for him!
Shilpa's emotional bits about not having a dad and also Apoorva not having one. I hated the bit about act as if I am your beti and he is your damaad and vote for us. Hello, many of the contestants have been though difficulties in life- they don't keep harping on it.
Poonam's constant crying and Shilpa's plopping. At most, S-S showed sadness by getting choked up and joy by hugging. They did not resort to Poonam-Manish's and Shilpa's brand of drama.
At least S-S never faked illnesses like the 'dukhti gardan', 'tuuta hua daant' , 'stomach flu' and 'fainting spell' crowd. In fact, if they had done so it would even have been believable due to their age.
People crib that S-S are getting a lot of Maharashtrian votes but I didn't see anyone cribbing when Neeru said in Punjabi that every Punjabi has to vote for her and that she will not ASK for it but it's something they absolutely have to do.
S-S maintained a dignified position on the Rajiv-Delu issue. They never resorted to fighting with Manish's intensity and Varun's ' muuh fulana'.
Unlike Delu - Rajiv who kept flirting with the judges (Farhan-Mailaka), S-S never did so.
Manish and Rajiv went on town doing rona-dhona bout how much they had to struggle. sob sob. Well, every star has struggled including SRK who used to take his bath in Taj Mahal hotel's bathroom when he first came to Bombay. Did you see S-S go on and on about their struggles? Neither comes from a film family yet through sheer hard work and talent they have come up.
Most importantly, S-S have constantly listened to the judges and improved their performances. They have been consistently good and working hard. Also, unlike V-R, they realised their limits and have not been overambitious. I firmly believe that Varun's blanking out was no more than sheer fatigue and an inability to get his steps right. If you see the rehearsal videos clearly, the step he stumbled on his semi final performance was the same one he flubled on during rehearsing when Raajeshwari got irritated with him.
I think S-S truly deserve to win this award not just because they are fabulous dancers but because they are the only ones who did not emotionally blackmail the viewers.
They do not believe in winning 'by hook or by crook' and so they are rightful winners!
I know many forumers are going to get agitated by my post but I honestly don't care. I have met very few rational, logical thinkers in my life and will not be surprised to see cloudy thinking on this issue too.
That's all. May S-S wear the crown👏
