Gehna is sitting in her room, with no lights on. Suguna comes there and asks her why she is sitting in the dark. Gehna says this way she can't see her pain. Suguna tells her that Daadisa sent her to ask if she will eat alone in her room. Gehna says she will come down to eat. Suguna talks to Gehna about things they bought at the fair. She shows Gehna a hair clip she bought. While seeing this, Gehna notices some scratch marks on Suguna's back. She asks Suguna about it. Suguna realises this must have been from the time she was with Pratap. She stammers and mumbles something and runs away. She goes to her room and tries ways to hide the marks. Gehna looks at her own hand and sees that the marks on Suguna are similar to her own marks on her hands. She is a little shocked and puzzled. She looks at some wedding pictures and sees Suguna with Pratap in the pictures.
Basanth comes up to the room and shows Gehna some very expensive payal he bought for her. Gehna refuses to wear it. She tells Basanth that she knows what he and Maasa were doing. They were trying to be nice to her and buy her happiness with their wealth. She says that they may have bought her parents' poverty and Basanth may have forcibly taken control of her body, but he would never win her respect and her heart. Basanth is left speechless.
Bhairav is driving home and sees Phooli's father walking with loads of stuff. He insists on dropping him home. On the way they talk about Phooli. Phooli's father feels bad for her since she is a widow. Bhairav asks him to send Phooli back to school. They both leave to get Phooli registered in Jagdisya's school.
Anandi is ironing Jagdisya's school uniform. Phooli comes running there and excitedly tells her that her father had admitted her back to school. She shows Anandi all her school books, uniform etc. Although Anandi is very happy for Phooli, she slowly remembers her own time at school and feels bad. She wonders why she can't go back to school. Phooli says her daadisa would never allow it since she was now married. Phooli takes back all her stuff and leaves happily since she will start school the next day. Anandi is left crying at her helplessness.
