Alex and Shweta get married
After two years of going out, Alex and Shweta made it official on Tuesday.
The Nach Baliye 3 couple were married in a Hindu ceremony in Mumbai's Laxmi Narayan Mandir. Many TV stars came to wish to couple - most having the time off because of the serial blackout on TV.
Shweta Keswani looked gorgeous in a brick red lehnga with beautiful gold embroidery at the sides. Dashing Alex was dressed in an offwhite and light green sherwani with red embroidery at the neck.
"The best thing was that we had a translator who explained all the mantras which the pandit chanted for Alex!" said Shweta.
"Many friends were there, and so were my Kahaani and Baa Bahu Baby co-stars, the director of Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, Pooja Bedi and many others," said Shweta. On the relations side, Shweta had her entire family in attendance while Alex's mother, sister, brother and some of his close friends were there from his side.
The big fat wedding followed all the Hindu riti-rivaaz right from mehndi to shaadi. "Mehndi and ladies sangeet happened a day before where my parents danced for the first time, my friends of course joined them" explained the bride, "And then Tuesday morning was the haldi. For this, there were these seven married women to specially bless the bride-to-be. We Sindhis call it 'Saat sagan'".
She said that the place they were married had a family connection. "My brother got married in the same temple, it has positive vibes we believe," Shweta said, "and added to this, the temple is made of Italian marbles! It's very large and beautiful with lots of chandeliers all around the place".
Asked if the couple had their horoscopes matched, she said: "No, my parents don't believe in that… however we did consult the pandit for the marriage date".
Shweta and Alex will now also be married through wedding vows in a Goan church on Friday. "It will be at a hotel in a private beach and there'll be a best man and toastmaster from Alex's friends" says the excited bride.
Shweta has taken a month off from work. "I am really very happy that the strike happened this week," she said, "I didn't have to miss much work".
The couple flies to Egypt on the 19th for a 10-day honeymoon.
