Fashion may have just wooed the box office but filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar isn't going to lie down and bask in the glory.
Sources close to the director inform us that he has been doing the rounds of some Indian jails and meeting the inmates for his next directorial venture titled Jail.
The film, which sees Neil Nitin Mukesh playing the central character of Parag Dixit, narrates a stark but sensitive tale of a common man who is imprisoned.
The story will be told from the point of view of this prisoner but will also recount the tales of several other inmates — either undertrials or convicts — and also prison officials. It is being rumoured that the film will refer to the real life case of Alistair Perriera who ran his car over labourers sleeping on the streets of Mumbai.
Shailendra Singh of Percept Picture Company confirms, "Madhur has been doing very intensive research work for this movie. You know that Madhur doesn't leave any stone unturned for his film. He has been visiting Indian prisons and meeting some really interesting people for the research work of the film. Madhur is very good with realistic cinema and Jail too will be something to watch out for. It will be raw and yet it will make a statement. But you have to talk to Madhur to find out exact details of which jails he has visited and which people he has met so far."
Madhur is in no mood to reveal much about his venture. "Let me enjoy the success Fashion has got. As of now, I'm not in a position to speak much about it, but I will let you know something in 10-15 days from now," he ends.
