I agree the tamil version was a very good adaptation of the original but ofcourse nowhere close to Memento.
Considering that it was for the Indian audience I thought the Tamil film was superb. The acting too was flawless. I am sure this movie too will be a hit - as Maya said earlier the script is strong and with Amir we can expect the execution to be good if not great.(I am delibrately ignoring Mangal Pandey here 😛)

Script is why I am waiting for Ghajini. Personally, I find Surya more intense than Aamir. I haven't watched the Tamil version but now I want to. I have seen some scenes with Surya and he floored me.

The tamil version of Ghajini is a movie I would strongly recommend except for the last 20 mins. Surya was excellent and its going to be a big task for Aamir to match Surya's performance. And yes you are right Surya carried out the intense persona to the hilt. And even Asin was really good and can see why Aamir opted for her.
