Small town hotties make it big in Bollywood
Without any godfather or celebrity surname to ride on, these start-eyed beauties are determined to carve a niche for themselves.
Bollywood has its own share of stars hailing from cozy parts of the country to boast of. Even as some have done their small-town proud, others are still struggling to find their foothold in the film industry.

Mallika Sherawat
Ambition makes this hot Rohtak babe's world go round. After a blink-and-miss role in Kareena Kapoor-starrer Jeena Sirrf Merre Liye failed to do anything for her, she promptly changed her name from Reema Lamba to Mallika Sherawat.
The new, improved MS turned the heat on, courtesy skimpy attire and more than a dozen lip-locks in Khwahish. If that wasn't enough, her saucy, aggressive avatar was reflected in her quote-loaded interviews as well as voluptuous appearances on the Cannes red carpet.
Murder and Pyaar Ke Side Effects further established her capability to emote.

Kangana Ranaut
After spending her growing years in the untouched landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, the Fashion star came to Mumbai with dreams of making it big. Instead she got stuck with projects that never took off and a reported liaison with Aditya Panscholi.
Luckily for Kangana, Anurag Basu's Gangster proved to be the much-needed breakthrough. The gripping drama, as well as her intense performance, won tremendous acclaim, fetching her Best Newcomer trophy at every award function in town.

Preity Zinta
Originally, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur was to launch her, along with Hrithik Roshan, in a musical Tara Rum Pum Pum. The film was never made but PZ got noticed, despite a brief role, in Mani Ratnam's Dil Se...
Since then, it's been quite a climb for the leading lady of super hits like Kal Ho Naa Ho, Veer Zaara and Koi...Mil Gaya.

Tanushree Dutta
Once in Mumbai, the big-eyed lass first set her eyes on the Miss India crown. Winning the pageant automatically opened the doors to Bollywood.
So far it's not been a memorable journey. Even though her debut, Ashique Banaya Aapne did well, Tanushree's subsequent films have failed to make any box-office impact.

Priyanka Chopra
Much before the Dostana stunner trotted the globe to make movies; she traveled all around India because of his father's job of an army physician.
Later, of course, Miss India and Miss World beckoned, followed by a promising career in Bollywood packed with hits like Andaaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Krrish, Aitraaz and Don.

Sayali Bhagat
The Nasik girl's debut, The Train, despite a rocking soundtrack, turned out to be a BO turkey.
Lately, the leggy beauty is making more news for closeness to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, instead of her assignments [or lack of them].a
