Hey guys! Have you noticed how popular Abhijit Sawant, Qazi and Ruprekha are AFTER II1 and FG??? I've almost forgotten about them. I guess they lose their fizz once the competition is over.🤔

Most people vote for their idols because they think they're cute. In that case, why not ask Shahid Kapur or Rani Mukherji to audition for Indian Idol? They'll win hands down!😆

I say we should vote for an idol who will win hearts over, even AFTER II2 is over. Someone who has an identity of his/her own. Someone with a different voice. I don't think you can get playback singers out of Indian Idol. I'd vote for a POP STAR instead. 👍🏼

If I have to single someone out at the moment, I'd select someone like Lekha. Her first round was ok. But after her "Kaisi Yeh Paheli" she's right on top for me. Looking forward to the contestants unleashing themselves!😉

What do you think guys??

Good topic to talk about.

Nobody has forgotten about Abhijeet Sawant. Yeah, maybe Qazi and Ruprekha might have been forgotten about, specially since their album seems to be a no-seller. Anyways, one thing u have to understand about these guys is that they are pop-singers, they need to have their albums out in the market to maintain their popularity. Lets see what happens when Abhijeet Sawant comes out with his second album. We'll see how popular he is then. Besides, he's now singing for a lot of movies too. So his popularity isnt phasing away. You need to give these guys time to keep doing stuff. You cant compare these guys with Shahid Kapoor. Shahid Kapoor is a movie star. Movie Stars are visible all over the place all the time. Especially someone like Shahid who also happens to be the boyfriend of the ultra popular Kareena Kapoor.

As far as Lekha goes..I think she's a good singer too. But trust me, her singing will fall flat once she's given songs which require a soft voice. Uptil now, she's been getting lucky with the choice of songs she's been getting to sing. I cannot imagine her singing something like "kuch toh hua hai" from Kal Ho Na Ho. Can you? :)

Yeah... maybe! I hope she sings a soft one in the next round!! Her voice is powerful though! Dhoom Machale type!! Hehehe! 😃

You took my Shahid Kapur stunt too seriously though 😕 My point was to select him because he's cute... not for the star status!!!

Anyway... lets wait n watch 😉

Achooo I 100% agree with you.

The whole format of "Idol" is to find the ULTIMATE POP ICON NOT a PLAYBACK SINGER. Thats something I hate about this show. The judges are looking for a playback singer which is wrong. I think Lekha is awesome. She is what Indian Idol is suppose to be about. People with different voices. People who can make great albums not soundtracks for movies.

I can. In her own style, which is how its suppose to be done & not copy the original singer. This is one thing that annoys me about Indian music. The female singers all have to be shrilly, high pitched. I doubt a legend like Abida Parveen could sing "Kuch Toh Hua Hai" like the original singer but she could prolly sing it 1000 times better that the original version IMO.

I disagree. A singer's voice doesnt have to shrilly, high pitched. What Indian Idol, as a matter of fact, any idol show around the globe looks for is an all-rounder. Somebody who can dish out any type of song without making it sound awkward. And thats where Lekha would dissapoint. She's got a thick voice thats suitable for songs with western influential. I say this becuz I heard her in the first audition round where she sang "lal meri pat". The song happens to be a folk song and infact needs a voice that is a little thick. She didnt pull it off well. Too much western influence. And thts what my point is..her voice is not suitable for Indian songs. And frankly speaking, for Indian Idol, we need someone who can sing Indian songs..not a la maddona or a Christina Aguilera.
Look at Sunidhi Chauhan..her voice is a little on the heavier side too..but she has the capability to pull it off. Why? Adaptibility is the answer. There's a fine line between adaptibilty and copying. I'm not ruling out the possibility of Lekha pulling it off. She might, but I'm not sure and we'll just have to wait and see. Good luck to her and the rest of the participants.

As far as selecting a "pop" icon and not a playback singer goes..I disagree with u there. The judges are looking for the whole package here. They want someone with the voice of a playback singer and the attitude of a pop icon. Someone who has the complete appeal, for the masses as well as for the classes. Just like Abhijeet Sawant. He's a pop icon. He has the voice of a popstar and a playback singer too. Why so much emphasis to playback singing? Becuz thats essentially a part of our culture. Playback singing plays a very important role in the music Industry in India today. I personally like to listen to songs in the movies if they are placed at the right moments. And there are millions just like me. There are millions like you too. So why not find a voice that serves both the sides. :)

Well thats your opinion. As for your's statement that Idol shows all around the world look for an all rounder is completly wrong. I have listened to all 60 winners & they 90% of them stick to a particular style of music. I want her to sing Hindi songs too, I never said she should be singing "Like A Virgin" or "Beautiful". She sang "Bheenge Honte" in her own way, which is how a singer should sing. In his/her own way & style. Thats what so amazing about her. I love that voice because its not what you listen to these days. Sunidhi Chauhan? She herself has admitted trying to copy Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey & most of her songs she tries to add a Western touch.
