I wish we had more talent like this girl in this season, what she is singing impromptu in this interview can't be achieved by most of the females from the current crop on stage.

Compare this with the original version she doesn't need to change scale or any thing:

In the film what has bothered me is that this song is based on Bilaskhani Todi which is hymn of melancholy, but the mood of the dance doesn't go accordingly. Is this the raag used to base Mahalya composition on ?(sung at the break of morning on Prathma day of Durga Puja), just goes on to prove how deeply religion and music are woven together.

Is this the same Aswesha who took part in some singing programme and did well to reach the finals? I have seen some of her singings and she sang very well.

The question is not 'why we lack talent in a country of billion' The question more imp is 'what happens to these talents'? Though I know that i'm not supposed to discuss other show contestants in this forum, but just for an example of the issue that we are discussing here - This girl Anwesha whom you have put up as example. I have been following her career graph as I really admired her singing. Two weeks back, i saw her show In a Puja Pandal in Hyderabad (Maha Ashtami prime time show in Keys high school). The first shock that came to us was her appeaerance. She has been converted to a Barbie doll with permed hair & heavy make up & jewellery & body hugging dress so tight that left her breathless during the performance. She was accopmanied by her mother & a lady who was supposed to be 'grooming' her & a lady who had supposedly 'discovered' her (No place for gurujis I suppose as she's already a star). These ladies were also brought up on stage to be honoured!!!!! As for Anwesha's singing, 80% of the songs were the ones from the show so she is almost delivering the songs in record like perfection - only her voice sounds so tired that one can't make out lyrics of the songs at all.

PS : I had heard from my neighbourhood pandal that Debojit Saha is charging 7lacs per performance so we can make a quick guess on her charges on the prime day of the Pujas

Wow that means Debo Dutta is worth even more. 20 lacs.😆
Debo Dutta is a hundred times better like Kishore Kumar.

Have heard Dedo Dutta live too. Very powerful voice inspite of the fact that he had a cold that night.

I am very sorry to read allt his sevak, thanks for sharing this information.
So a genuine talent is being murdered by people around, kya bole....!!
BTW the price quoted fr D Saha is a bit exorbitant, Saptak was invited by a known locality and he charged Rs 30 000 for a 7 or 8 songs but they are earning well.
I have heard D Saha sounds powerful in live performances, he sings a lot of Bengali songs as well in Kolkata, so this is the reason, they have just started running and already on the path of destruction.
God Save them...!!
