| Kareena's best is yet to come - Karisma Kapoor By UT, 12 October, 2008 |
These are her words, not ours. She does not get the "comeback" bit, however. She asked me with spirit, "Do not women in other professions take maternity leave. Do secretaries make comebacks? Does anybody in Hollywood ask Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep who make one movie in five years whether they are coming back?" And will we be seeing her again on big screen? She said, "It is matter of time; whenever I get a good script I will do it . I do miss my acting and you do miss things when you are passionate about. I have been working from such a young age, so I have been on a much deserved break". You jets between Dehli and Mumbai like, well, secretaries commute between Virar and Churchgate. Her in laws have houses in both cities. Karisma smiled, "It is nice for me. I enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Mumbai and the calm and lovely winters of Dehli". Mumbai has not seen her since Shakti in 2002, but at 34, she could still stop the traffic. Neither the demands of marriage nor the tugs of motherhood have so much as dented her stunning looks. Dehli designer Manav Gangwani got her to walk the ramp for him at the India Couture Week recently. And Karisma had the audience drooling. But how long will she be happy doing only fashion shows, brand endorsements, and remaining connected to Bollywood through her younger sister? We asked if she would consider a movie with Kareena. She confessed, "I have been offered umpteen numbers of movies. But it is a big deal for us to co-star and we do not want to do just any movie, this would have to be the ultimate". And what about cousin Ranbir? Karisma said horrified, "Not a romantic role opposite him. But a character role, why not?" She thinks Ranbir has all the makings of star in his blood. And Kareena? She said, "What can I say? She is fantastic! Actresses are not made like her. But I think her best is yet to come. I liked her in Yuva and Chameli. In Jab We Met, she made me cry. Who is the better actress, she of me? We are different, but she is by far! I had to work a lot but Kareena is natural". May be they are different as actresses, but how about as persons, as Kapoor girls with individual takes on men, love and marriage? Could she, like Kareena, have had a relationship with a co-star like Saif Ali Khan when at the top of her career? Karisma replied reluctantly, "Probably not. I am old fashioned. Kareena shocks me by making love affairs with her co-stars. But that is the thing you loved about her". As the elder sister, did she approve of Kareena seeing Saif given his reputation of failed relationships? There was no hesitation in Karisma's answer, "After all my experiences, I have learned not to judge anybody. You do not know what is going on in their home and life. Bebo is important to me, she is sensible girl, what makes her happy - makes me happy, the family will stand bu whatever decision she takes". What about Saif, did she know him? The brown eyes danced with amusement, "Of course, we did Sooraj Barjatya;s hit movie Hum Sath Sath Hain in, I think, 2000. As a co-star, he is chilled out, fun loving". https://filmicafe.com/news_detail.php?news_id=7621 |
