Jeeva's demise is a great loss to Kollywood! A verdict you would utter after watching this flick. A fantabulous film with kinked up with unique style of narration and spellbinding cinematography and what else more would you expect from the auteur? The storyline isn't complicated, but screenplay with finesse spelling the past and present situation of a character Gautham Subramaniam is excellent?
Here goes the story?.
Dhaam Dhoom is the tale of an young intelligent doctor Gautham Subramaniam (Jeyam Ravi), a well featherbedded chap by his parents. Well his father (Nizhalgal Ravi) too is a doctor and the film opens with Gautham being invited to represent India in the World Doctors' Association seminar held at Moscow? A well establishment reveals that betrothal has already been taken place between Gautham and his ladylove Shenbha (Kangana Ranaut). On his fleet to Russia, he has glimpses of his cherishing memories with her and by the time he reaches the immigration counter in airport of Moscow, he happens to meet a Russian model Anna (Maria). She drops off her leather jacket accidentally and with no option, Gautham carries it along with him. Later both of them happen to meet in the hotel and a good relationship shoots up between them?
Russia, a land of beautiful scenario enchants Gautham a lot, but the biggest problem is none speaks English over there. And if you don't speak Russia, you feel it as an alien land. That's not a big issue for Gautham who successfully completes the seminar and of course gets applauded for his excellent speech on unique developments in the attributes of Indian Medicine.
On the occasion of celebrating the gleeful moment, Gautham drops into a night club where he accidentally meets Anna. A sizzling dance and Anna is boozed up. Taking her into his room, Gautham feels giddy and gets off to sleep.
Immediate cut to next shot, you find Russian cops brutally pulling him down from the sleep and it's a shock for Gautham to find that Anna is lying dead in his room.
He is given no chance to explain his situation and what he gets is the hits and abuses. Pushed into the dark rooms of prison, he catches hold off again the elated moments with his ladylove, their first meeting and how they fell in love.
Gautham finds a great hope when Anjali Chinappa appointed by the Government of India appears for his case. On the parallel, Indian High Commission also sends in Jayaram, member of Indian Embassy for his rescue.
What happens now? Does things fine for Gautham as he has people for his support? Not at all, here begins the next hours of ultimate action packed thriller ride where Gautham is chased not just by cops, but group of unknown strangers?.
In midst of this edge-seated thriller, here and there you get to see the flashbacks of Gautham that has lots of romance and comedy blended with it.
Performing chocolate young peppy boy kind of roles in all his previous films, Jeyam Ravi comes up with a different spell. His gestures and matured performance in different situations of happy and sad moments are eccentric. Bollywood's sleek missy Kangana Ranauat adds more color to the film with her bubbly mischief character and her transited performance as a matured lady in the latter part fetches her good credits. Hats off to Lakshmi Rai! With her decent and naturalistic performance, she carries off the film with her strength pleasingly. Especially, her comedy sense with Jeyam Ravi and her affection for him, her expressions of suppressing feelings on getting to know about Ravi's love with Kangana is really superb.
Harris Jayaraj seems to have given out his uttermost contribution with the songs. Placement of songs, visualization and the music are really awesome. A never heard before background score adds to the pace of screenplay and Harris, you're amaze us? Jeeva's cinematography needn't be analyzed; they are always of top-notched quality.
Brilliantly choreographed stunts in the chasing scenes are gripping and hold the audiences' attention.
Lip synching is bit irrelevant when it comes to Kangana Ranaut and it would have been nice, if director had focused on it. Manikandan had delivered the taste of Jeeva in all the songs and it's great of him.
A grand fiesta for A and B centres, while the romance and comedy presented may be picked by frontbenchers.
On the whole, Dhaam Dhoom is a trendsetting flick and inspirers of Jeeva should definitely carry on with his style. A great milestone in the career of Jeyam Ravi, Lakshmi Rai and Kangana Ranaut.
We miss you Jeeva!!!
Verdict: Don't miss it?
