She walked in . Was taken aback!

Wow!!! she thought!

But was at a loss to understand what was going on!

Regained enough composure to ask , an interview, and all this?

The whole room was lit with beautiful aromatic candles,burning bright, warming the room and filling the air with so much of cheer and quiet gladness.

Just that morning it had been officially announced that he was to be her mentor.

She was ecstatic! She wanted it only that way!

And now she was reporting to him for the first time as his protegee.

He looked up, called her in and got down to making her understand how mentorship programmes were to be worked out.

He got her to talk and how! Told her gently to shed her cadet guise and speak to him as Naina.

Just Naina, not the now cadet but the then college girl Naina who definitely was once a pampered and protected sister of his best friend Naveen.

She who was soo guarded in all her talking and behaviour till that moment, got down to reciting her past girly experiences in one go--- like an excited child on her mother's lap, telling mommy all about her day at school and at play.

Her happy prattle, sweet smiles, soft laughter and charming innocence .She was a totally different Naina he was seeing for the first time .

She captivated his heart then at that moment!

He had made many arrests in his brief but brilliant career since he was a fine officer, but that evening his own heart was arrested , for life!

She stole it from him, he lost it forever.

It remains ,to this day, with her absolutely secure within her own!
