Ya, Shaan is a great host, I have seen shootings of SRGMP episodes thrice and on the sets he's even more supportive and friendly and enegetic than he appears on screen, after all the editing.
Some contestants get so nervous that they forget what song they were supposed to sing, drop their music sheets from their hands,etc and he's busy calming them down, fetching things for them, helping them with songs in the judge's choice rounds (in the previous serieses), joking with them and making the atmosphere light. They shoot 2 to 3 episodes a day, one after the other, with Shaan always on his feet, running around. Even then, when we see Shaan on tv, it doesnt seem like it might have been the 3rd episode he'd shot for the day.

Sonu Nigam was also a good host and a very good singer, i liked him a lot but he was not as enegetic as Shaan.
But the quality of the competition wrt the kinds of rounds, the quality of the participants, etc, are not in the hands of the SRGMP host. Yes, The quality of SRGMP was better in the beginning than it is now but does it have anything to do with the hosts?

He is far better then Sonu and rest.....

He is too friendly, polite and has always smiling face. 😊

I have seen both Sonu and Shaan doing their job. Without bias I can tell you Sonu was real gem. He was natural, not jealous (remember he also was a budding singer at that time!) of talented competitors, respectful to the judges, fluent style, etc., etc. We used to look forward for SRGMPDN week after week.

When the change came, Shaan took over superbly. He is superb. Oflate, I find him, in addition to the qualities mentioned above, a very affable and friendly guy.

However, please don't hang me for saying this, IMPO, in the initial stages, I felt Shaan was acting more humble than needed and smiling more than needed. Please note this is my opinion only.
