‘I will tell dad about mom’s marriage!’ - Article

Television actress Neena Gupta's fairy tale marriage to Delhi-based businessman Vivek Mehra happened in such a jiffy in the US, that nobody remembered to inform Viv Richards about it.

The former West Indies cricket captain, who is the father of Neena's 19-year-old daughter Masaba, lives in Antigua, but remains in touch with the mother and daughter in Mumbai. Now Masaba, who is studying fashion designing, has decided to break the news to King Viv. "I will tell him when I speak to him next, he will be happy I'm sure," she told TOI.

Masaba, herself, is pleased for Neena. She knew that "Vivek Uncle" was the man her mother always wanted to marry some day. But she was thrilled that Vivek, before popping the question to Neena, asked Masaba if she was okay with his marrying her mother. "I was more than happy. I'm genuinely thrilled for mom because she has been single for many years and deserves all the happiness in the world. I used to pray that God would do that for her someday. My prayer has been answered," said the young girl.

She yet regrets her parents' separation. "I just know that when you are unhappy in love, it's sad to suffer in it," said Masaba who was 13 when Neena and Vivian split. "They mutually decided the relationship wasn't going anywhere. Individually they are very good people but together they are not happy. Dad took me aside and broke the news. We cried and I tried showing him reason. But he is headstrong, nobody can change his thinking. He is always there for me. I wish dad also finds somebody who loves him and settles down. I doubt he will marry anyone now."
