Vennila arrived home, the thoughts of Aravinthan are now stored tight inside her heart. She walked inside the kitchen to question her mother about the calmness in the house, as it never existed in their house before, not even once.

Vennila asked, "Ena sema quieta irruku, Appa engamma?"
Her mother did not reply.
"Ena nadanthichu?" Vennila worded the question differently to try and get a response from her mother, as she knew that her mother kept quiet or answered "Enakku theriyalla. Enga poraarnu solitar poraaru!", when asked about her father. But Vennila could read behind her mothers words and silence.
"Yaaro oruthan vanthu unga appa-va meratitu poitaan," she replied.
"Yaaru?"
"Chinna voda aazhu oruthan."
"Hmm.. Amma, Chinna romba nalavaru. Appa thaan ethavathu thappu paniyiruppa, vera vella ilama. Athumattuma, Chinna appa-va venumna thookalam ana avar apdi pana mattar, nee onum kavalai padaathe."
"Unga appa kathila ithu ketichu, nee avalavum thaan," mum said. "Itho, intha chain-aium avan vittu poitaan." Amma handed the chain to Vennila.
She seized the chain, "Ena pana pora?"
"Ena panurathu?"
"Naan potukavaa?"
"Unga appa partha nee avalavu thaan," she said.
"Avar parkkanumma, athukuthaan poduren. Sari, sari, nee poi cook panu." Vennila ordered her mother, as her father would have done. She examined the chain, placed it around her neck and tied the ends.
