Karnvir's Kismat
Karnvir Bohra is all set to adorn the big screen with his
performance in his debut film Kismat Konnection
Cast opposite Shahid Kapoor, Karnvir says of his role, "I'm a go-getter in the movie. Initailly, Shahid's character always comes first and my character (Dev) comes second. But later on, my affluent family background serves to my advantage in a project based competition. But Shahid's kismat changes because Vidya (his lucky charm) is with him, and he bags this project."
However, whether it's about coming first or second, Karnvir is completely satisfied with the way his role has been portrayed in the movie and he takes immense pride in the fact that the movie has been directed by someone as prolific as Aziz Mirza.
"Aziz uncle is a darling and I'm honoured to work in his film," says the charismatic actor for whom it's a dream come true. But was it the same experience that he had while shooting for a television serial? "No. When we act for a show on the television, we get so mechanical.
This is not the case when we do movies. There was a shot with Boman Irani when Aziz uncle and Haroon, his son, guided me and told me not to limit myself to a certain style of acting," recollects the actor who has dabbled in theatre before getting into soaps.
Like any other actor, he also had a few butterflies in his stomach when he gave his first shot for the movie. "My first shot was with Om Puri and I had a lot of pressure to perform well. But in my mind, I kept thinking that I might make a mistake. Luckily, the shot was okayed at the first take itself," said a relieved Karnvir.
But his most memorable time was when his birthday was celebrated on August 28, 2007 in Toronto, when he was shooting for Kismat Konnection. "My wife, sister and brother-in-law surprised me by just showing up on location," he says.
Not only did he have his share of fun on the sets, but there seems to have developed a good friendship between him and co-star Shahid Kapoor thanks to their love of staying fit!
"Shahid is fun-loving and talkative unlike his image in front of the media. I was so mesmerised by Shahid's dedication to staying fit that now, I've also started going to the gym and training with his trainer," says Karnvir who also reflects back to his advertisement days when he used to go auditioning with co-star Vidya Balan. "She hasn't changed. She is still very sweet, courteous and loves just chilling out," says Karnvir who hopes Aziz uncle turns out to be his lucky charm too as he was in the case of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, whom he had discovered.
