Day 3: Tea Break - Sri Lanka trail by 248 runs

Not a single wicket in the session as Sri Lanka manage 116 runs in 29 overs, scoring at four runs per over. They were in all sorts of trouble in the first session, losing five wickets for 90 runs with the threat of giving India a chance of enforcing the follow-on. But Niroshan Dickwella and Sonal Dinusha have thrown that out of the window with an unbeaten 124-run stand. The Indian bowlers tried everything, but the two batters counterattacked, mixed caution with aggression, and staged a sort of comeback for Sri Lanka. Both have gone past their fifties, and Sri Lanka will want them to carry on and convert it into centuries, as there isn’t much batting left after this pair. They still trail by 248 runs and need another 49 to avoid the follow-on. However, India wouldn’t want to risk batting last, so the follow-on is highly unlikely to be enforced now.
