🏏India Tour of England 2026: 4th T20I at County Ground, Bristol on 9th July 2026 at 10PM IST🏏

Image

England (ENG) will once again host the visiting India (IND) in the fourth T20I of the ongoing series at the County Ground, Bristol, on Thursday, July 09. The Three Lions hold an unassailable 2-0 lead, winning the second and third games after the first encounter was washed out after only one innings could be completed.

The Harry Brook-led side was put into bat on a bouncy surface, where they put on a total of 201 for 7 in their innings in Nottingham. The innings was held together by Phil Salt's 44-ball 70, supported by a 36 from Jos Buttler and an unbeaten 41 from Sam Curran. Prince Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 30 for India.

India were bowled out for 76 in their batting innings, with their 125-run loss being their largest defeat by margin of runs. Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue ran riot, sharing seven wickets amongst them as India lost four wickets in the powerplay and failed to recover from the blow.

One decision that continues to dominate discussions is the omission of Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper-batter, who starred during India's triumphant T20 World Cup campaign earlier this year, was left out of the XI with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi being preferred. With the batting failing spectacularly in Nottingham, calls for Samson's return have only grown louder ahead of the fourth T20I.

England, meanwhile, have been clinical in every department. Their pace attack has exposed India's vulnerabilities, while the batting unit has repeatedly found contributions throughout the order. India now arrive in Bristol searching for that elusive win under Iyer's leadership, not only to restore their confidence but also to keep the series alive.

When: Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 5:30 PM local time/ 10 PM IST

Where: County Ground, Bristol

What to expect: A bright sunny day is on the horizon. While West Indies and England played out a high-scoring game last year at this venue, the recently-held Women's T20 WC fixture saw low scores.

County Ground, Bristol Pitch Report

The pitch at the county ground in Bristol is of a fast and bouncy nature, offering consistent carry. The boundaries are on the shorter end, ranging between 60 and 70 metres, allowing batters to score more freely. Seamers get lateral movement, but there is almost little to no help for spinners.

ENG vs IND Probable Best Performers of the Match

Probable Best Batter: Phil Salt

England have been calling for their top order to fire since the start of the T20 World Cup, and Phil Salt finally responded in a big clash. The dashing opener scored a brilliant 44-ball 70 and was measured in his takedown of India's bowlers. His innings was laced with seven fours and three sixes, motoring along after Jos Buttler's dismissal. Unable to play the full IPL due to injury, he will be looking to get himself back in the runs.

Probable Best Bowler: Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer has returned to his rightful place as England's attack leader and was at his blistering best in the third T20I. Coming off a stellar IPL and a Player of the Series run in the Test series against New Zealand, Archer finished with figures of 3 for 29 in the powerplay. He decimated India's batting lineup in tandem with Josh Tongue, with the pair taking five wickets in the first six overs.

Who said what

  1. "You don't become a bad team after four games. Sometimes, if the opposition plays better than you... sometimes you don't assess the conditions better, you don't read the conditions better. Reading the game is equally important as well. We haven't done that since Ireland" - Gautam Gambhir on India's losing streak after the T20 World Cup win
  2. "Well yeah, I think it's even now. But we've got another two games left and it could go either way, so may the best man win" - Jofra Archer on his battle with IPL teammate Sooryavanshi
