When in opposition, every brutal crime becomes a rallying cry for justice. Once in government, the same voices often become hesitant, defensive, or silent. Victims deserve justice, not selective outrage.
The horrific crime against a young girl in West Bengal has horrified the nation.
At such moments, the responsibility of any government is simple: protect the victim's family, ensure an impartial investigation, prosecute the guilty swiftly, and allow the law to take its course without fear or favour.
Instead, when allegations arise that victims, witnesses, or those seeking justice are being intimidated, public trust is deeply shaken. Democracy cannot survive if political loyalty becomes more important than the rule of law.
