Back then casteism didn’t exist. It was Varnas. Caste itself is a Portuguese word and concept introduced by the British in India for their usual divide and rule.
Karna was a student of Guru Drona despite being a Shudra. His dad was also a friend of Dhritrashtra as his personal Saarthi.
Guru Drona only denied Karna the knowledge of the Brahmaastra as he felt Karna wasn’t worthy of the same. And it was his absolute right to do so as the Guru. What shows depict is absolutely nonsense and untrue.
The rest want to depict Karna as noble but he too was full of pride and ego, he purposely challenged Arjun despite being way older than him in the arena where the princes were meant to display the knowledge they acquired from Guru Drona.
Their version of Karna is meant to instil the idea that Shudras were treated like less than human beings by our ancestors from thousands of years ago.
The idea has about as much merit as Sati being a practice forced in India though in both Ramayana and Mahabharata plenty of important women get widowed, be it the three mothers of Prabhu Ram or Satyavati and later Kunti. When neither of them were made to kill themselves by jumping into a fire, why would our ancestors who are the descendants of these very people do it.
It’s the Macaulay model which would frame the Hindus as evil to make us seem monsters to lessen the stigma of the witch burnings carried out in Europe whose numbers far exceed any that were ever recorded for Sati/Jauhar, which were voluntary acts as compared to the witch killings of European women.
