What has Meryl Streep to do with the Hindi filmindustry???

There are two instances where I remember that Meryl had mentioned India in cinema-related context

1. In 2015, she publicly campaigned for the Oscar-nominated "India's Daughter" (a BBC production, though, which detailed the 2012 Delhi gang rape), stating the film left her speechless.

2. She praised Indian's cinematic style, noting in interviews that she loves its colorful productions and dance numbers.

As far as I know, no other published mentioning of Indian stars or Indian Cinema came from her side... so, actually, why even is she relevant for the I n d i a n filmindustry??? (I don't talk about the Indian audience, though )
