Shubhangi Atre, known for her performances in shows like Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Havan, Chidiya Ghar, and Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, recently opened up about the reality of asking for work in the entertainment industry and why many actors hesitate to do so.
In an industry where image, visibility, and public perception often matter as much as talent, Shubhangi shared that hesitation around asking for work does not always come from ego. According to her, it is often connected to self-doubt and the fear of being judged.
Talking candidly about the subject, she said, “I feel it’s not always ego, sometimes it’s the fear of being judged.”
The actress explained that many actors tend to overthink how they will be perceived if they openly express their interest in working or looking for opportunities. However, she believes there is nothing wrong with being honest about wanting to continue growing professionally.
“But if you look at it practically, this is our profession. There is nothing uncomfortable about wanting to stay active and grow,” she added. “Opportunities don’t wait for anyone”
Shubhangi Atre further spoke about how rapidly the entertainment industry has changed over the years. According to her, things now move much faster than before, making it necessary for actors to remain proactive and visible.
She said, “Today, everything moves very fast. Opportunities don’t wait for anyone.”
The actress believes that simply waiting for opportunities is no longer enough in today’s competitive environment. She stressed the importance of reminding people that an actor is active, available, and ready to work. “If you don’t remind people that you are working and ready, they may simply not think of you at the right time,” she added.

Her statement reflected the growing reality of the entertainment world, where visibility and communication often play an important role in maintaining a successful career. In an industry filled with talent, actors constantly need to stay connected and professionally present to remain relevant.
“Talent is what gives you longevity”While discussing networking and visibility, Shubhangi Atre also made it clear that she still believes talent remains the strongest foundation for any actor’s career.
“Talent is what gives you longevity,” she said.At the same time, the actress acknowledged that talent alone may not always be enough in the current industry environment. According to her, building genuine professional relationships is equally important.
“Along with talent, it is important to connect with people genuinely. When there is trust and comfort, collaboration happens more naturally,” she explained thoughtfully.
Shubhangi’s perspective highlighted the balance actors often need to maintain between their craft and professional networking. While strong acting skills help build a lasting career, maintaining good relationships and staying approachable also contribute significantly to growth in the industry.
“Expressing the need for meaningful work is not weakness”
The actress also reflected on an old mindset that persists in certain parts of the entertainment industry. According to her, there is a belief that once actors achieve success or reach a certain stage in their careers, they should no longer openly ask for work.
“There is this old thinking that once you reach a certain stage, you should not have to ask for work,” she said.
However, Shubhangi gently disagreed with this idea and explained that every actor, regardless of experience or popularity, continues searching for meaningful and fulfilling opportunities.
“I feel every actor, at any stage, is always searching for something meaningful. Expressing that is not a weakness,” she added.
Her words offered an honest look into the emotional and professional realities actors face behind the glamour associated with the entertainment industry.
“Don’t attach your self-worth to rejection”
Sharing advice for actors who hesitate to put themselves forward, Shubhangi Atre encouraged people not to connect rejection with personal worth.
“Don’t attach your self-worth to it,” she said.
The actress explained that rejection is a natural part of every creative profession and should not discourage anyone from continuing their efforts.
“Rejection is part of every creative field. Just stay sincere, keep improving, and don’t stop showing up. That consistency always finds its way.”
With her honest and practical thoughts, Shubhangi Atre highlighted the importance of confidence, persistence, and professional initiative in the entertainment industry. Her perspective reflected the reality that while talent remains essential, staying visible, proactive, and emotionally strong is equally important for survival and growth in showbiz.
