From your point of view, I can relate to what you wrote.

But there is another point of view which is stressed much much more... and not everyone is indifferent to the FOMO effect. In the contrary, reasons are found/invented to hail the movie(s).

However, I like that Ranveer convincingly plays the role given to him...and also leading an interesting ensemble cast.

The way the narrative is showcased wasn't/isn't needed but seems to satisfy a certain 'atavistic bloodthurst' reigning since a while.

Both the movies (and the three, I guess) are well-made movies considering the craft... it's just the way he uses his craft that may be questionable... (but so had been other directors' work when catering to a leading mindset)

Art is as much corruptible as other human activities...

I can understand why a nationalistic movie like Dhurandhar would work in India right now. It’s kind of similar to the wave of nationalistic films that came out in the U.S. after 9/11. The audience is people with an in-group bias, whether we like it or not; that’s the default psychological setting for most people unless they consciously work to move beyond it. The good news is that we can.
It's kind of funny director who mostly sticks to one genre suddenly gets hailed as a genius. I literally saw someone on Twitter comparing him to Martin Scorsese, like, seriously. Scorsese has worked across so many different genres - dark comedy, period romance, fantasy adventure, psychological thriller, sports biography, historical religious drama, documentaries, and gangster crime. Comparing that kind of range, theme and storytelling to a director who’s mainly doing one lane just gives me second-hand embarrassment.
