Also China has responded to US claims as reported by Business today :

In a post on X (formally twitter), the Chinese newspaper Global Times questioned the logic behind the statement, writing: “The claim that the US won’t allow India to become a rival like China sounds odd. Does it imply that China’s rise happened because the US allowed it? Or that the US will not allow India to develop? The logic is puzzling.”

How about u start researching what the govt has actually said about the issue you are trying to create here, instead of accusing me of blindly agreeing with whatever the govt says?? This is the statement made by jaishankar on the same matter, im sure you will probably find some fault in this too.

Coming to the so called paper tiger china, then america is effectively fracturing china’s influence by taking over its strategic partners like venezuela and iran one by one, yet china isnt doing much to protect its interests. China has massive economic and energy stakes in both venezuela and iran but it still hasnt taken any meaningful action to defend those interests. Despite that, no one questions china’s so called great power status.

Meanwhile, india buying russian oil and the claim that india needs america’s permission to do so, is nothing compared to those things. India never stopped buying russian oil and the govt has repeatedly made it clear that india does not require permission from the USA or any other country to purchase energy according to its national interests.

Yet people keep turning this into a massive controversy when, in reality, when its not even a issue.

At the same time, much bigger geopolitical shifts are happening in the background like how the USA is weakening china’s influence through countries such as venezuela and iran, while china appears unable to respond. Strangely, however no one seems to question that.

They will go ahead because looks like ambani has given nod..we need to step into other countries to improve our brand ..as of now we dont have enough Indian brand presence in many countries..this would be good for us..

Aha! i guess it makes sense now. Not only will you be making money, but if the US ever tries to behave badly with India then you guys can easily shutdown the partnership too 👏🤣 win-win situation!

Hey you are mixing two different things..regarding "we wont allow india to grow " jaishankar answered it in person..you said china doesnt reply to anything ,so i quoted what china replied for recent comments though they were simply named..

My intial question was regarding US allowing India to buy russian oil , waiver ,history of russian oil purchase and our stand on it..

I said that because recently they have largely stopped responding. When the tariffs were first imposed, they reacted quite fiercely but now they seem to have realized that there is no point in responding to every foolish remark coming from the US.

Secondly, china itself is facing even bigger threats from the US and is not really able to do much about it, yet no one questions that. But when it comes to india, people start creating massive controversies even when there isnt any real issue, mostly driven by the opposition.

They still have greater leverage over us but even then we faced their tariffs with resilience. So if india has now started building some strategic leverage of its own, even through small steps why shouldnt we??
