2 interesting teams. I don't know which team to root for. May the best team win.

India is not playing, maybe that's why.

de Kock has broken the record for most dismissals by a wicket keeper (33) in Men's T20 World Cup, going past MS Dhoni's 32.

South Africa need 14 runs in 24 balls

AK: "Has the dew made batting disproportionately easier in second innings, or is this just South Africa showing superior skills?" -- The latter. Although it must be said that SA bowled far better than what NZ have dished out so far.

Ethan: "If SA win, would they qualify for the Super 8?" -- No, they will not. There is a scenario where NZ, UAE and SA all finish on six points, which would then mean NRR comes into play.

54,923 is the official attendance, Firdose tells me, and they have been witness to a stunning batting display so far.

Buttlerverse : "Was that 83/0 on the same day England chased down 230?" -- Yes, it was.

SA's highest powerplay score in a men's T20 World Cup is 83-0 against England. Markram has one ball to better it.

Quickest team 100 in T20 World Cups (by overs)

6.5 Ind vs Nam Delhi 2026

7.0 Net vs Ire Sylhet 2014

7.2 SA vs NZ Ahmedabad 2026 *

7.3 Eng vs SA Wankhede 2016

Fastest 50s vs NZ in T20Is (by balls)

14 Abhishek Sharma Guwahati 2026

15 Shivam Dube Vizag 2026

19 Aiden Markram Ahmedabad 2026

Each of the three have come in the last one month.

19 balls makes Markram’s the quickest 50 in T20 World Cups for South Africa eclipsing De Kock’s 21-ball effort against England at the Wankhede in 2016.

Patel: "Does not make sense for SouthAfrica to slow down. They always panic when it becomes a close game. SA should put a rule in team, finish it off always before 10 balls. " -- Don't think there is a lot of pressure in this particular chase. SA doing it at a canter at the moment. Henry back on

Talk about a statement performance. There were a few murmurs the other day, around how SA were not at their clinical best and were loose in their execution. Nothing of that sort tonight, though, as they flexed their muscles to show just why they are worthy contenders.

If anyone had any doubts about South Africa's World Cup credentials, then this win should send a shiver or two down everyone else's spines. This is a hammering of a New Zealand side who were unbeaten coming into this game. First South Africa restricted New Zealand to 175 when 200 is par here. We have seen totals being chased down effortlessly in IPL when Shubman Gill turns into Sir Don Bradman on these pitches. And South Africa didn't break a sweat in chasing this down. Markram started off hittting the ball crisply and they have made short work of this. New Zealand took 3 wickets but those were all consolation. South Africa never allowed their opponents a sniff in the chase. After a nervy Super Over win over Afghanistan in a game which could've gone either way, South Africa assert their dominance with a crushing win tonight.

Markram, through a jaw-dropping display of stroke-play, led the way, tearing NZ to shreds inside the powerplay. Brevis, de Kock, Miller and Rickelton all played cameos, ensuring that SA did not wither away their early advantage.

An evening to forget for NZ. They were short of a par score and they did not help themselves with the lines and lengths they bowled. It was either in the slot or too short and once SA came hard at them, it was a long road back for the Kiwis.

Marco Jansen | Player of the Match: No, obviously we know it's a good wicket and the opening batters especially showed some great intent against us. So we knew we were going to have some other plan and say we're going to drop some wickets.

(what worked on this wicket?) I think the slow balls into the wicket worked well and then obviously the yorkers on the wicket. So it was good to see you have to change it up and adapt, I guess. And I think that that really worked. Yeah, obviously winning the World Cup is not easy. And then there's like today, you just take it as it comes and days where it's not your day, you just try and adapt and try to make the best out of it.

(bases all covered in this side?) Yeah, I think the bowlers are doing really well. Also, then, well, obviously our seamers also complement each other really well. I think the plan here was really good and yeah, really skilful. Enjoying every moment, but there will be new challenges coming in another circuit.

Yeah, I think each ground, we just know how to please the other guys who have played in the IPL, so there's a lot of noise in the group as well. So we just try to take every day as it comes, try and see who we're playing against and then we just take it from there.
