It was a tough start for Canada after choosing to bat, losing both openers within the first four overs. They scored 39 for 3 after the powerplay, but Thaker managed to ease the tension by hitting a four and a six in Haider's seventh over. Thaker and Dhaliwal then stabilised the innings with an excellent 58-run partnership, which eventually ended when Dhaliwal was run out for 34 runs in the 13th over. Thaker reached a fine half-century off 40 balls but departed on the very next delivery. Following Dhaliwal's wicket, the boundaries dried up as the UAE bowlers tightened their lines, offering very few loose deliveries to capitalise on. Canada's running between the wickets was also a bit sluggish, missing out on several potential doubles. Junaid was the standout with a five-wicket haul, while Jawadullah was equally impressive and economical. There's a long discussion happening between Waseem and his players as they head to the dugout, and we'll be back for the chase after a quick break.
