It was a tough start for Canada after choosing to bat, losing both openers within the first four overs. They scored 39 for 3 after the powerplay, but Thaker managed to ease the tension by hitting a four and a six in Haider's seventh over. Thaker and Dhaliwal then stabilised the innings with an excellent 58-run partnership, which eventually ended when Dhaliwal was run out for 34 runs in the 13th over. Thaker reached a fine half-century off 40 balls but departed on the very next delivery. Following Dhaliwal's wicket, the boundaries dried up as the UAE bowlers tightened their lines, offering very few loose deliveries to capitalise on. Canada's running between the wickets was also a bit sluggish, missing out on several potential doubles. Junaid was the standout with a five-wicket haul, while Jawadullah was equally impressive and economical. There's a long discussion happening between Waseem and his players as they head to the dugout, and we'll be back for the chase after a quick break.

Harsh Thaker: I think we have a par score, 150 is not a bad score here. The wicket, when you bowl back of a length, the ball's holding a little bit, and it's a little bit two-paced.

(On his partnership with Navneet Dhaliwal) It was just bat till the 10th over, the coach's message, which is bat till the 10th over, but obviously a T20 game, you still got to look positive. So the plan was to just keep batting. When I got in initially, I had a few balls that I took time, but then when I was in, I was able to be positive.
(How do you keep your cool?) You just follow your process. You try to stay true to your process, and then everything else takes care of itself.

UAE has lost two wickets so far

Kaleem Sana to Muhammad Waseem, out Caught by Navneet Dhaliwal!! That's gone a mile high in the air - mid-on calls for the catch, waits on it and holds on with ease - this is a big wicket and Dhaliwal throws the ball away in delight. Waseem never looked in his elements, comes down the pitch and Sana follows him with a good length delivery - cramped for room, he's early into the flick and the ball catches the leading edge - Samra and Dhaliwal both went for the catch, but then the former pulled out. Muhammad Waseem c Navneet Dhaliwal b Kaleem Sana 4(8)

Kaleem Sana to Muhammad Waseem, THATS OUT!!Caught!!

Saad Bin Zafar to Alishan Sharafu, out Caught by Nicholas Kirton !! Caught at cover - UAE have lost both their star batters now - tossed up just outside off, Sharafu backs away on the inside out drive, doesn't get the elevation on the lofted drive. Kirton backtracks, keeps his eyes on the ball and holds onto a good reverse cupped catch. Canada keeping themselves interested in the defence of this chase. Alishan Sharafu c Nicholas Kirton b Saad Bin Zafar 5(13)

Saad Bin Zafar to Harshit Kaushik, out Caught by Nicholas Kirton!! Straight to deep mid-wicket. It's full on off, Harshit Kaushik goes for a big slogsweep as he sinks on his back knee, holes out to Kirton who takes it and brings out the bow and arrow celebration. Harshit Kaushik c Nicholas Kirton b Saad Bin Zafar 5(9) [4s-1]

Required run rate is touching 12.

If UAE is not firing up, they are looking for an upset from an inexperienced, newbie Canada. Second upset in a single day! smiley23
