Hi all, I am traveling for 2 weeks so will be on and off! But today’s episode was better than the last few! I liked noina tulsi scene and the factory/ inauguration scenes! But dint understand why Mihir allowed Noina to cut the ribbon and his smile after that!!
Hey, happy travels! Have a safe and fun trip.
The ribbon cutting ceremony is a western thing, a formality that technically means nothing and has no significance for a company that has been around for decades. It wasn’t a new facility that was being inaugurated either but an old one being reopened.
For us, culturally speaking, the significance of the coconut breaking, the pooja and marking the place/object with a tilak followed by a Swastika is of more importance than these other things. Those rituals are done by only a family member - the Ghar Ki Lakshmi. Could be anyone from your mom, sister, wife, daughter or daughter in law. But it has to be someone from your family, that’s what matters nothing else. Because when done by her, these rituals hold significance and are considered auspicious as she’s considered as the physical embodiment and presence of Maa Lakshmi in your home.
Noina didn’t get to do that.
She got the western traditional ritual which is about cutting a ribbon but holds no significance for us culturally and is in and of itself a pretty meaningless thing. You must have heard of ribbon cutting of shops, restaurants etc. being done by celebrities or famous politicians. But have you ever heard of anyone asking an absolute stranger to do a Pooja or some other ritual associated with our culture for them especially when it means something? Ever heard anyone pay a random celebrity to sit for their Gruh Pravesh Pooja and Shanti Yagya on their behalf? Or maybe a politician who would appear to cut the ribbon and take the wheel for a brand new vehicle’s first ever ride that was someone’s personal car? I don’t think so.
Why? Because these things are not something that we give any special consideration to which hold a meaning for us. If you can pay SRK he would gladly come to cut the ribbon for your haircutting salon without even knowing you personally and never remembering you or your name later. If you get a local MLA or MP to assign a budget to develop a public park in your locality or simply place benches for people to sit on, he/she would turn up to inaugurate it with press to show the work they’ve done using people’s money paid via taxes for public welfare, even if they make sure some of that money goes in their own pockets… but you can’t ever think of asking someone else, let alone pay them to do the Pooja for your new home/office/factory/car/scooter. You will get a Pandit to do the mantras and direct how the ritual will go if required, preside over it as well if the occasion needs it, but the Pandit will simply help you perform those rituals but they will ultimately be done by you or your family members.
Mihir smiled because Tulsi got to do the ritual meant to be performed by his family, wherein everyone unanimously wanted it to be her to do it, even Gayatri. Tulsi didn’t go all but Kaki is here or let Shobha/Pari do it as the eldest one/daughters of the family present there. She did the needful, very well aware she was not being asked to do anything as Mihir’s new business partner but rather as his wife.
Noina got to do something that even outsiders can do and that too after Suchu technically begged for the same.
There’s a clear difference between the two.
