Those who love subtle romantic themes and period drama, I recommend this gem as a must watch.

Although I don't have watched this 2004 TV-movie, I know the book and the original Melville movie which both very well render the oppressive times under Nazi-occupation in France. So, this movie may do it also.
Edit: It seems that the story of the book and the Melville movie probably got changed a bit according to what I read now about this TV-movie. But nevertheless, I would support the praise.
Bollywood (and other industries too) stereotypes everyone but every time a movie comes out the particular community will start crying as if they're special victims.

Yes that one….and it very much deals with the sensitivities of those tough times France was put through and how the leads were caught up in the midst of it all…The beauty of the movie is the way it was written, acted and directed….simply a masterpiece! One of the rare gems which keeps gettting better with every watch….I probably watched 20 times by now and I only started last week and I doubt I am going to stop anytime soon….😆
In the meantime, I've watched the movie on YouTube... thanks for having written about it
