She did not win a national award for best actress She got a special mention which her PR till date has succeeded in making people believe that she won NA for BA. Even parineeti chopra has this special mention for Ishaqzaade.

National Film Award - Special Mention is a NA category since 47 years and can go to anyone (from producer to sound designer).

Sonam was presented with a certificate of merit for her performance in Neerja (without a trophy or a cash prize).

So, it is still a National Award but not in the category Best Actress (which went to a Malayalam actress that year).

Sonam shouldn't even be in the industry with this logic & reasoning. She is worse than the worst. Her only potential competitor can be Janhavi.

That movie got half the credit due to the event and the original brave act of the air hostess.

She was pretty good in the movie
