itv serials usually earn mainly from ads. More eyeballs = higher TRP = higher ad rates = more money per episode.
+ sponsorships + star power. Especially in reality TV shows like Bigg Boss. They may not have the highest TRP but their Salman episodes earn a lot of money.

With the exception of 2 weeks Ghum2 trp was always higher than Rishta. It also beat Anupama for 3 months. So that isn’t the reason. Makers themselves said why they ruined their show. They said they wanted to bring 2.5+ trps when at that time it was IPL and no show was bringing that at the time, so they decided to ruin their own show in their greed for even higher trps.Har show ka alag budget hota hai and different earning remuneration. Can’t compare Rishta with Ghum. Anupamaa earns highest for the channel.
Rishta earns much more than Ghum.
Results we all saw. Saraj nor Tejneil or Sevneil then ever brought 2.5+ trps they were looking for. All what they did was ruin their show for no reason and it resulted in their show shut down. Channel also started to go down since then.
