Pant has climbed up into the dressing room and Gambhir has left his seat on the balcony to check on him

"Pant, clearly struggling, now goes off into the pavilion," informs Kaushik.

STAT: 35.4 overs taken by England to reach 100 is the slowest in a home Test and the second slowest overall in the Bazball era behind 37.2 overs in Rajkot in 2024.

"The physio has put a wet towel on Bumrah's neck... It's a hot, hot day" - pings Kaushik. "Bumrah goes off the field."

First hour done after lunch and drinks are coming onto the field! Has been an absorbing spell of play with India being superb with their lines and lengths. England went without scoring for 28 balls at one point, and these two have had a fair number of plays and misses. But the luck continues to evade Siraj and Bumrah.

Arul: Jamie Smith on the sidelines would definitely be wondering what type of cricket he should be playing on this pitch.

Bumrah’s length split so far (by percentages)

1st session: 29.1% full, 62.6% good, 8.3% short

2nd session: 26.6% full, 53.4% good, 20% short

India quicks overall, have shortened their lengths a fair bit this session.

Anand: "I guess the question is whether Jurel can bat if Pant cannot.... Does an external injury save us ??" Jurel won't be able to bat, unless Pant gets concussion or Covid between now and India's innings... I guess the options are still open...

Gill goes to umpire Paul Reiffel with the ball now. He puts it through the hoops and walks across to his partner. Meanwhile, Siraj having a look at Pope's willow. The fourth umpire is walking out once again. They're changing the ball. India will finally have their wish. But will it change their fortunes in the wickets column?
