Mohit Suri discussed why he views the support from actors Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor for his blockbuster Saiyaara as biased. In an interview with Zoom, Mohit also remembered how a young Alia considered the song Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein from his debut film Zeher to be really cool.
Talking to Zoom, Mohit reflected on affection from two major stars. “Those two are biased also. Dono teaser se hi film ko support kar rahe the (They have been supporting the film since the teaser). They are biased towards me but to see the rest of the world love it the same way, as they have, is more important also."
Mohit recounted a story about Alia Bhatt's response to his first song, Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein. Recalling the memory, he said, “Mujhe yaad hai Alia jab choti thi toh mai apni pehli film ka video Bhatt saab (Mahesh Bhatt) ko dikhane lekar gaya tha, Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein ka, Bhatt saab ko itna samaj nahi aya tha but Alia was like, ‘this is really cool, papa. I am telling you.’ That time woh filmo me thi bhi nahi but she always had that in her. She is more commercial than all of us put together."
The director also shared with IANS, in light of Saiyaara’s massive success, that his on-set conduct is a result of years of subconscious learning during his time as an assistant director.
Mohit told IANS, “I’ve been on the set since I was 17. I was an assistant director for five years, and then I started directing at the age of 22. I spent more than 50% of my life on a set and being a director. Now I’m 44. I think that’s the real me".
Mohit mentioned that film sets are where he feels most at ease, unlike social or media events where he feels like he has to adopt a persona.
Saiyaara, a poignant love story directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films. The film follows Krish Kapoor (Ahaan Panday), a passionate singer chasing his dreams, and Vaani Batra (Aneet Padda), an ambitious journalist, as they navigate the complexities of love, ambition, and societal expectations. As their relationship unfolds, they're forced to confront the harsh realities of their choices, making for a deeply emotional and relatable cinematic experience.
The film Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneetaan Panday, is making waves at the box office. According to reports, Netflix has acquired the film's OTT rights, but its digital premiere has been postponed to Diwali 2025 due to its ongoing theatrical success. This strategic delay aims to extend the film's theatrical run and capitalize on the festive audience. By pushing the release to Diwali, the makers hope to maximize box office collections and cater to a broader audience when it eventually streams online.
