You can share quotes on both threads but yes you need to share at least a couple of quotes from the book on the Pride reviews threadLizzie, I've questions related to pride prose reviews. You said we need to write reviews and post quotes from queer books. So, should we post quotes from the queer books in the thread of pride prose reviews? Or should we post them in the thread of quotes?
Where are these well written love triangles?
I've read well done single PoV romances before so I can't speak against them, bcz when done well they're really very satisfying to me (same with love triangles, I love them when they're done well but so many authors manage to botch it up). Especially when they sneak in that single chapter somewhere with the other PoV just to show us what was really going on. It feels a lot like real life then, bcz unfortunately you always have only single PoV irl
no luxury of the other PoV unless they openly come out and communicate
but for these to work, the scenes need to focus a lot on the dialogue and the non-verbal cues. I think that's where most writers fall off. And irdk why that is, bcz when I write romance, my favourite part is the dialogue and non-verbal comm. I squeal and giggle every time I manage to include subtle hints of the growing feelings! 🤭❤️
Anyway, I honestly think fanfics manage to do the single PoV better. They rarely have dual POV anyway, and since they often have a much lesser wc than novels, they know to make the most out of every scene. You can just tell by the scene that the other character is going through it too
Why have I never come across a single one?
Honestly though I hate love triangles with the burning passion of a thousand suns. I find the writing lazy and it’s the most uninteresting romance trope for me personally. About fanfics being better written with single pov, you could be right. I’m not saying books aren’t either - just that they leave me dissatisfied especially in a romance when I want to live inside both characters’ heads. That being said, I have loved a few single PoV romances. Cara Bastone writes them very well. Have you read this new Indie author called Kristin B. Cole. I really enjoyed The Scientist by her! I believe it’s free on Kindle (at least it used to be)
Hey - just letting you know that I’ve added ‘quotes’ to the Pride Prose reviews template - noticed that you’ve copied the template on your res post and didn’t want you missing it when you actually post reviews

I saw you mentioned the love hypothesis by Ali hazelwood having supporting queer characters, so I can read that for pride prose challenge, right?
Yeah, it does have supporting gay characters so yes you can, and mention them & plot revolving around them in your review!Originally posted by: LoveHopeMagic
