I think T was going to read Hamlet.

T you wanna team up with Lizzy for a Buddy read?

Recently I got quite taken by Shakespeare’s quotes. Thought why not remove the bar(d) and give it a read smiley36 There is a 4.5 hours movie for Hamlet, I was planning to watch it along with my reading, hoping it could bring more clarity.

Sure, I am okay with Buddy read. How does that work?

Okay, so for my Buddy reading,

1. Abhigyan Shakuntalam @MISSFIESTY_69)

2. Hamlet (@MISSFIESTY_69) (@DreamOfEndless)

3. Merchant of Venice (@MISSFIESTY_69)

4. Robinson Crusoe (@Shirsha)

5. A House for Mr. Biswas (@Shirsha)

6. No Longer At Ease (@Shirsha)

I think, we need to run a separate thread for it. Lizzie do confirm once. I am excited for the buddy read, but because this is for the first time, I need a bit more direction.

Cool, I’ll add these to the first page.

Yes one of the buddies can create a thread when you all agree on the time frame to start and end. Have a definitive end date too (at least a tentative one) otherwise it will drag on forever. Once you create your thread the rules of the Buddy read are upto you. Just make sure you follow IF CoC and forum rules at all times, that’s it.

With Shirisha and Vera, since you’re doing more than one book together you can decide to do them one after another or simultaneously- whatever you are comfortable with but make separate threads for each one in case some others want to join later.

Lizzie, I would like to buddy-read Robinson Crusoe, A House for Mr. Biswas, and No Longer At Ease with LizzynDarcy. But I read A House for Mr. Biswas, and No Longer At Ease when I did M.A in English literature. The first book was written by a Caribbean author, and the second book was written by a Nigerian author. These novels were included in my syllabus. Is re-reading allowed in this reading challenge? If yes, then I can read all three novels with LizzynDarcy. If not, then I will only buddy-read Robinson Crusoe with her.

Yes you can re-read books.

For classics please agree on a version you’re reading cos there are some condensed works, abridged works, children’ and young readers’ version etc. So do make sure you’re reading the same publication!

Before I or anyone of you start a thread, let me know your reading pace and if you want to read a specific version or are open to reading from different versions (we all can pick the one we are most comfortable with it and still discuss), and also a tentative timeline for finishing the read.

I’m open to reading any version so long it stays true to the original version. And as for reading pace, I’m can complete a 300 page novel in about 4 hours on a stretch. So you guys can decide the reading pace and let me know smiley9

Cool. Even I am a fast paced reader, but since this is a buddy reading project, I think we need to slow down a little. I am not sure though. How about this? We can fix a deadline or make a schedule to discuss the books? How does an act a day schedule sound to you?

I have Penguin edition for Abhigyan Shakuntalam, from my college days. But if you want, I can pick another edition. For Merchant of Venice, I am planning to read it from Arden edition - I have a pdf.

Is that okay with you?
