Just let the departed rest in peace. She suffered enough. This interview was not required.

These days every news/interview I read about/from her makes her come across as a petty/ugly human being.

She says Parveen chased an intellect that didnt come easily to her. Shabana tries to hide her contempt in pseudo compassionate language but gives it away anyhow. Somebody needs to remind her of that cake. I think she's also been talking about Smita Patil. That she was chosen to be an extra but insisted on playing the other woman in Arth or something like that.

Is she implying Babi didn't have brains enough to handle what she(Parveen Babi) was reading or did Shabana Azmi just learnt a new phrase and wanted to use it somewhere. She did not say what was esoteric stuff Parveen Babi was reading or saying.

It is a very unkind back-handed compliment to pay a dead person.

It's not even backhanded. She's basically saying Parveen was dumb but pretentious. Which is funny because while Shabana may not be dumb she's plenty pretentious. I don't want to read too much into the comment ,maybe she was just 'recollecting' but it's possible she's insinuating Parveen being a wannabe had something to do with her mental breakdown. It could be true, maybe Parveen was that but yes like you said an unkind comment that could have been avoided . This is something you'd tell your friends or family ,not the media. .
