If this offends anyone… please skip…

To those who like this… lets hear your thoughts too…

I have done this earlier for another show and have received brickbats... thats why I was holding it off... seriously... ignore if you dont like it.

These are my thoughts regarding Vikrant in this entire track… honestly I don’t think he is wrong…yes he is getting manipulated but that is being done very smartly. I don’t think he is dumb or anything either.

It starts with his anban with Mannat on the day this assault happened. He instructs Mannat Shalini to leave immediately and expects they must have. Sadly it doesn’t happen.

Vik doesn’t know it of course and by the time he gets to know… a lot of evidence is wiped out.

My peeve with that particular episode was his approach in dealing with the issue. In order to make him sound good and a man of principle….. the writers didn’t give him enough time or dialogues to express his concerns or process his thoughts. Vikrant very easily agrees to help Shalini and be with Mannat but he doesn’t ponder over how it looks for Mezbani…. I expected him to show some initial resistance in exposing Mezbanis name and the location (which ARS was trying to hide) and have a thought about all the employees who would get affected …. But he agrees instantly…. I feel the writers/editors made a mistake here.

Once they have elevated Vik here by standing by the truth…his hurt over the media fiasco and his upset about mezbanis name is spoiled looks like an afterthought…. Fueled nicely by Punnu and ARS. They know its his dream and his attachment to Mezbani…. So they use it to manipulate him… Vik thinks about how it looks for mezbani at this point… not before that…. Which is odd to me. As a businessman his priority should have been for his dream project…even for a moment.

I would have loved if his initial thought (even if slightly selfish) was for Mezbani… but nevertheless side with Mannat/Shalini eventually…that would have made him a true BKB…. Most of people here or otherwise rued the fact that he is no more BKB from that point onwards.

Secondly his reaction to Mannat… yes he was harsh and has a angry streak…that is shown multiple times by now…. The first angry outburst was due to the fact Punnu fed him… neither Punnu nor ARS knew it was Derek and at that point only these 5 people knew… 4 of which did not want to leak the news…whereas Mannat desperately wanted to… so it was an obvious deduction at that point. Viks outburst was partly due to feeling betrayed by Mannat as he believed she trusted him and knew him enough. He says this to Malla and I find it revealing his character…. He says by going to media, I felt like Mannat showed me that I don’t care enough about Shalini…. To him it was a matter of ethics… his ethics being questioned by Mannat… the one person he wants to have a good image of him

He still cares for Mannat as is amply clear with his reaction to Derek.

His calmness is odd to me like many of us felt…. He probably believes (this is my assumption) that it was a stray event… none of them were involved (until Derek is framed of course) and then with his arrest matter is resolved. I would have liked if the writers had explored this angle of Vik thinking its an inside job a little bit. Or what if it happens again… he neither did once question about the evidence collection or cleaning up of the venue…. Which I assume is a trivial matter for ITV ML.

In todays episode… he first came to say sorry but got upset when Mannat pointed out family’s involvement. He took every body’s name including himself (except bobby) and eventually deduced angrily that she doesn’t believe him… has such a poor opinion of him. But then he rethinks and discusses with Malla…. Now I don’t think it was a discussion… it was more like he was treating Malla like a sounding board… and since he had initially blurted his thoughts out loud … probably felt like explaining more.

Coming to a last bit of today where he said Courts will give justice…. This is I feel where we can understand Vik a little more…. He believes courts will deliver justice to Shalini…. What he doesn’t know that Indian courts are notorious for not doing that… rich people do buy out…. Which is exactly what ARS is doing… and Mannat is worried for…. Mannat understands this… hence the panic…. He doesn’t…

Another example is him saying ‘log kya kahenge’…. Vik doesn’t have that sense… but as an Indian girl and especially one who is poor…Mannat knows….

He also probably didn’t expect people maligning Mezbani for what happened… maybe believed people wont link them as place of disrepute which is odd too considering he is a businessman and understands how optics work…

I can imagine all of this is because he hasn’t lived in India and his parents are genuine nice people who have given him good upbringing…. Its not in his mind to think such stuff…. Doesn’t understand, hence doesn’t believe…. That’s why he thinks ARS is genuinely helping Shalini…hasn’t seen her true colours…. Shalini isn’t helping either with her “I forgot” statement.

Mannat at this point is fighting a battle nobody wants herto…

Regarding ARS… yes is being too naïve…. Mannat clearly pointed out ARS was bluffing and trying to hide… why he believes its with good intention is probably because of the reasons I listed above…

And for Malla…. I am completely okay with her…. Her role is now limited to being Viks shadow… as an actor and as a character she has absolutely no purpose in the story if she is not around him… OG Melisa wali stage pe ye aaegi bhi to shayad kuch farak nahi padega…

And for the ‘rich and poor’ statement…. I already mentioned this in another comment… Vik somewhere feels guilty that he is blessed with money and all the privileges money can buy… that’s why he says to Mannat (once when he was ginaoing the ehsaans) that I supported you because I wanted to give you a chance you otherwise wont get. It is not condescending the way Malla says… his is more honest…

I think he said similar thing to Derek too…

My point being Vik is a naïve character when it comes to relationships and he is unable to process his feelings for Mannat which is making him behave errantly.

Lovely post!! But as someone else pointed out in the EDT thread, my problem is he never lets the other party(in most cases Mannat) at least provide justification before he gives his decision. This was the same case during the alcohol incident. He did not give a chance to Mannat to say anything before he dismissed her. The same again at the press leak, Mannat was time and again pleading that she did not leak the news but he refused to believe her. And then again today when she said someone from his family might be the real culprit. His anger is justified. But if every time he reacts without listening to the other party, his sorry doesn't matter, at least to me. Because next time something happens again, he will conveniently blame Mannat and say sorry again .

. 👏👏👏 He has no trust in Mannat and there is no relationship without trust. The question that she needs to ask him is why does he always believe the worst and blame her? Why is that his default?

Even I feel the same. The one time he trusted her above Puneet was when he was not directly effected by the incident. Even if Mannat died in the freezer incident, it did not effect Mezbani's name. And personally at that point she was just an employee, an aquintance at the most. But when any incident directly effects him, he did not trust Mannat above ARS or Puneet. After so many incidents, it seems to me like a recurring theme.

very very well said smiley32 to me viku doesn’t have any common sense for sure or he has a walnut brain in his upper part of the body..he doesn't believe at mannat at all for some weird reason ,draw the conclusions within a second and make mannu out from her sight, house bla bla ..smiley29 which is really immature behavior..then goes to her after he wakes up from his deep sleep and says sorry 😞..I must say his character is chameleon..really sick and tired of his foolishness

They can’t show a love story when the ML doubts the FL at every single turn. He believes Malla and Punnet! I hope when he goes to apologize to her at the end of this never ending track she says to him that she’s done. She can’t be friends with someone who has so little faith in her; then show the romance track.

I will have to disagree with you ....

I have already mentioned he does have a angry streak... my point was only that they placed it properly (writing wise) for Vikrant to have distrust on Mannat. His instant anger is definitely a problem... but Mannat has been caught in a situation time and again where she doesn't have a proof...

And even when she does... she doesnt show it.. like in yesterday's episode...

That I believe is a writers decision just to stretch matters...

In all the situations that she has been pleading that she didn't do... The evidence is against her... in the media fiasco and yesterday's episode where she directly blamed his family...

If Vikrant believes her blindly... I am pretty sure people would call him dumb and stupid. There is no realization of his feelings for Mannat on his part at this point. So if he does support her... it would look even worse for his character considering the hierarchical relationship they share. The name calling will worsen.

P.S. since I have watched the original... in my opinion this track is exactly to build what you guys are suggesting... build trust that Mannat never does wrong.... come what may.

I agree with everything you said… and I only get frustrated on Vikrant just because he is ML and I have to!! You know me smiley37

I was even okay with him not thinking about Mezbaani initially but what I didn’t like is how he didn’t question the kitchen being so clean when Mannat said she found Shalini in the kitchen. He even thanked Mannat for taking her to hospital.
Inspite of all that he was never showed to question Puneet and ARS.

Malla is okay to be honest she is the a way to relay information back n forth between Vikrant and ARS or stop Mannat from getting to Vikrant… nothing else.

I also agree his reaction when Mannat said someone else than Derek esp his family did it… come on how is he to believe it. My problem is he expects Mannat to trust him but when she gives him information he explodes. I hope it make sense..

On anger… I have been meaning to say this since the first time he was shown to get angry on Malla during the party she did… then Mannat after the drunk act…

I was and still expect Vikrants anger issues to raise and was expecting this to be the case especially with Mannat.

Vikrant is good guy but definitely struggles with snapping… always due to some reason behind it. Hard for sure to understand for everyone. Glad he has Mannat who doesn’t shout back or has the ability to understand another person’s perspective.

I like this part of Vikrant makes him human!
