Great, thanks, Vera. And no need to put down links. I’m not going to verify anything smiley36

Waise bhi this whole challenge is an exercise in trust - that people are actually reading what they’re putting down in their logs smiley36

I was actually the same. Never cared about the number of books or the number of pages I read until my first reading challenge last month smiley36

Thank you so much, Alchemy! smiley1 I'm currently reading a thriller book and a horror book. I completed 43 pages of the thriller (e-book/pdf) and 41 pages of the horror novel (paperback). Both of them are interesting. I'm glad I selected these books.

In my case, there was a discrepancy of 50 pages. So, I felt very uncomfortable to write Amazon's print length of paperback. I thought "How can I write 320 pages when I actually read a book of 270 pages?" So, I thought I should discuss the matter with Lizzie before writing the page count. And after talking to her, I decided to write Amazon's print length. There're a few reasons. First, it's the rule of the reading challenge. That's what Lizzie told us to do for the reading challenge. As a participant, I should follow the rule. Second, there'll be a disparity if I write the actual page numbers. That's because other participants are writing Amazon's page counts. Third, Lizzie will not be able to verify if I write the actual page counts. I know she'll not verify. Still I should write those page counts which can be cross-checked if required. So, I wrote 320 pages (Amazon's print length) for the thriller novel, The Locked Door. Currently I'm reading Sidney Sheldon's thriller, Tell Me Your Dreams. And there's a huge discrepancy between the e-book/pdf I'm reading and the page count of Kindle! The pdf consists of 241 pages and the page count of Kindle is 388 pages. And I'm going to write 388 pages for this book because that's the rule. Lizzie told us to write the page counts of Kindle for e-books.

In my case, it's the opposite. The physical book I have is 297 pages, but the Amazon print count is 288. Like you said I know Lizzie is not going to verify but since everyone is specifying the Amazon print pages, I am specifying 288 pages only.

@b: Shirsha, if you dont mind, I think you should write the number of pages in the pdf. If you are reading as a ebook, you can always take a screenshot or upload the pdf somewhere ( in case you downloaded it from websites) and PM it to your team captain or Lizzie herself. I'm saying this because the discrepancy is huge, like it is running up to hundreds of pages. But I'll leave it to you to decide.

Actually, I really wanted to write the actual page numbers for both physical books and e-books. But I didn't want to break the rules of the reading challenge at the same time. I can write the actual number of the pdf. I've no problem with that. But I don't know how Lizzie will feel about that. She said I could do whatever I'm comfortable with. Still I think she might not like if I don't follow the rules.

And what about the first book, The Locked Door? I already wrote Amazon's print length for that. By the way, I don't know how to share photos on IF. Posting photos on Imgur and then sharing those links are also very tiring.

If the discrepancy was mere 10-20 pages, it would not be an issue but since it is running up to hundreds of pages, that is why I suggested this. No, its more about uniformity more than strict adhering to rules. But you can ask Lizzie what she feels about this and take her suggestion as final.

Amazon print length for The Locked Door is fine Shirsha.

You can share photos in IF without imgur/postimg ( I think you can share upto 3 photos )

Step 1: You have to click on the picture icon and select Upload image

Screenshot 2025-04-07 000810.png

Step 2 : Since I am currently using IF in my laptop, it opens up to the file folder. If you happen to use android, you can attach pictures both from photos and file manager.
In case of iPhone, you'll be able to upload pictures from Photo Library and Choose files ( your file manager )

Screenshot 2025-04-07 000935.png

Step 3: Once attached, you'll be able to view it in the post. According to your network speed, it might take a few seconds to upload.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other doubts.

Alchemy, I talked to Lizzie and she told me to write Kindle's page counts for e-books. She said we should keep it consistent, otherwise it will create a lot of confusion. Pdf format is very different from Kindle Edition's format. That's why there's so much difference between the pdf's page count and the Kindle Edition's page count. I also noticed that the font size of my pdf is very small. So, I'll write Kindle Edition's page count for Tell Me Your Dreams. After all, Lizzie is the organiser. So, I should follow her instructions. I think we should all stick to Amazon's page counts for both physical books and e-books. I don't want to overthink it anymore. I have been thinking about it for several days.

Sure go ahead. @b: I didn’t ask you to follow mine Shirsha, it was all but a mere suggestion. smiley10
