What does YRKKH promote about marriages?

I have given up on the show- everything about it is unlike able. I only view short clips of this show for humor now days. What is sad about this was that YRKKH used to be a family show. And what i find most disgusting is seeing females, including young girls idolizing the toxic couples on this show (all because the couple looks hot together.

All the 'beautiful' traits that YRKKH has normalized till date:

1. It is okay to lie, steal and kidnap for your partner. There is no wrong in love. Crimes can be tolerated.

2. Let's fall in love with one girl one day and give her hopes. Then, suddenly fall in love with another girl/ get married with another girl later on. That is the ultimate definition of love.

3. Let's do illegal things and destroy your partner's career. A small sorry can resolve anything. That is love.

4. Let's stand against your partner when a crime is committed against her family member. Justice in not important in love and marriage

5. Emotional manipulation is normal in love.

6. It is normal for your partner to chase you out of your marital home and then accept you back. This is how real marriages function.

7. Divorcing and getting back together with your partner shows how strong your marriage.

8. A female should never have self- respect in marriage. What is self- respect even? A doormat is the best partner in marriage.

9. When a female gets married, a job is just for name's sake.

10. For a male; you should always prioritize your birth family over your partner. Because your wife is not real family. For a female: you should only prioritize the family in your new marital home over your birth family. Because marriage takes precedence.

11. If your in- laws don't like your wife, they can do anything to separate them. Even a 2nd marriage is acceptable. Because males don't know how to speak and stand up for themselves.

12. A real couple does not need couples therapy. Simply walking out/ divorcing solves the problems.

The only thing YRKKH has not romanticized till date is physical violence. Maybe they should do that for generation 5- show domestic violence as a means of how a husband loves his wife smiley42.

P.S. Feel free to add on what else YRKKH has promoted about marriages.

Abhira and Arman have taken the meaning of love/ marriage / compatibility to ditches & much lower . For them , marriage is basically not getting divorced or remarrying after divorce....everything in between is passable...

And before someone tells me ruhi rohit are worse or madhav vidya are worse, if this is where the comparison should be made I have nothing to say 😆

I regret bashing gen 3 , the issues there were real .. much more interesting & complex . I wish I'll never say that for gen 4

Just to add to the list ..

"Bhagwan jaane Maine abhira se alag kyun hona chahta tha " - mr arman poooodar, sab kaand karke shift the blame on God's if you were possessed while sending dp to your wife 🤣

Will never understand why it’s accepted that only if one partner physically hurts the other, it’s considered domestic violence? Standing mute while the girl, you agreed to marry and promised to take care of, gets slapped/called names IS domestic violence. Standing mute while your fiancé gets humiliated and ill-treated for not being able to give you a child, the same woman you once again convinced to marry IS domestic violence.

When a character is supported based on the face of the actor playing it than for the character they are playing, the story has lost its plot. Audience, especially online audience is generally biased towards MLs. The more the audience has been more receptive towards regressive characters, the more the writers have become lazy in writing good characters.

There’s a fundamental problem with the audience as well. Going by the general consensus, ITV audience is mostly women and they always seem to be more open to accepting male characters as flawed, traumatized or whatever is in trend. Compare that to female characters, their one mistake is enough to call them names. Take this show, Abhira who can be described stupidly naive to think everyone will accept her and generally is forgiving towards everyone, not just ML, is called all kinds of degrading words. Ruhi who has been showed to have moved on after realizing her actions and apologizing to the 2 people she hurt the most is still not accepted a redeemed character and still called names. Women like Vidya, KP or Manisha are only accepted as long as they are on the side of the leads. The audience refuse to see that each character has their own story, according to which they react.

When gen1 started, people were able to connect to the characters. It didn’t claim to be progressive or using terms like women empowerment. The concept was simple, girl adjusting in an arranged marriage with the concept of everyone being treated equally, be it the leads or other characters. This show has only gotten sicker with each generation and the writers are not entirely to be blamed.

It depends largely on the audience, yes you're correct. The jodi fans don't see any flaws in their favs as long as they do stupid trip fall catch type lollypop scenes , angst , the meaningless romance... They only want lollypop rest can go to hell . So obviously the narrative also goes like this..whatever the hell leads are going through they will dance in dreams or "celebrate valentines together " , just as an example .

The fl fans never see any fault in her , but this season ml fans are in scarcity . He's properly called out for his actions without excuses. Excuses are given by jodi fans bec they want to continue looking for lollypop scenes and not give up on the leads for this reason .

This season everything is wrong starting from the characters of leads to the families, supporting characters , still it's on #3 , andho mei kaana raja types..there isn't any better content out there but the low trp overall tell us that large section of audience have switched to ott.

I dunno why and how this is remotely connected to the concept of marriage..they are basically doing ma behen of our age old family systems which is even more disturbing. And it's sad to say this bec yrkkh was the only show which stressed on values morals & marriage in joint family .

The biggest issue with the audience is the selective justice attitude. As long as justice is served to lead characters, it’s acceptable. When a FL gets slapped, she deserves to get justice. If the same thing happened to let’s say Ruhi in this show, it will be applauded. Even if half of what was done by Armaan to Abhira was done by a beautiful actress, she would be termed a vamp. Any other character whose interests don’t align with the leads deserve to get humiliated. Manisha, an otherwise positive character in this show was lauded as long as she supported leads. The moment she fought for her husband’s rights, she becomes a villain. Why should each character be judged on their terms with the leads, yet there is no accountability for the decisions leads take involving other’s lives.

Bold - lollipop scenes, will never understand this either. What purpose do these scenes serve when there’s no growth to the characters, it’s just shallow. When a story reaches this point, it’s the actors the viewers are enjoying, it has nothing to do with the show. Recently read a YouTube comment for an unrelated show. A handsome actor plays the character of a rapist/addict, yet the audience wants the FL to get paired with the character. What was even more shocking was general opinion being the actor is too handsome to be a villain. When did the look of an actor start justifying the characters they play? What’s this twisted thought process?

With every season of this show, there’s only one general opinion, that the previous season was much better than the current one. The current season has been a train wreck from the beginning, but it looks like it still isn’t done derailing.

This is the exact point of view I hold. I love how emotional and physiological abuse is totally ignored. Why blame the ITV audience when the online audience, who is supposed to be more progressive and the next generation of viewers, can accept the ML as long as there is lollipop romance scenes?

We hold such low standards for MLs that it makes me genuinely wonder what are the standards we hold for men in real life? Yes, marriage is a compromise but you should never accept red flags.
