See that’s where the problem is. I think those weren't real people, right? They were just characters in the drama. That’s the issue I had with people justifying their actions and then others opposing them, arguing about why Arnav was wrong or why Khushi was right

See, no one would actually tolerate such characters in real life, but it was a drama. That’s why It was justified . I think we don’t really want reality when we watch ? do we? Do we really want to see real-life characters, or do we want something fictional ? someone we can fancy? So I never understood why people were trying to compare him to a real-life person.

And if all we wanted was reality , real people, morally good people then why would we even watch such dramas? Dramas are meant to be fictional. They re meant to fascinate us.

Would anyone have really watched it if those characters were without flaws ?

I was more inclined toward Arnav’s character because of how it developed over time - the writing, the depth, and the acting, which convincingly portrayed his fears, sadness, love, and vulnerability without using too many dialogues even though he had a dark side.

For me What mattered is the characters, their arc, how they develop and their chemistry . The same goes for Khushi. And then, of course, their chemistry. That’s what really intrigued me , not the people trying to justify his actions or the ones trying to prove how wrong he was and why he was a such a bad character .

Truthfully, I don't like Arnav's character that much... but then, he was meant to be have gray shades... so it is understandable. What doesn't sit well with me is people trying to justify his actions... which is horrible, no excuses. Just because Barun looks handsome, Arnav ko saat khoon bhi maaf?! 🤣

The actors were great on their part... I never had any complaints about that. And to be fair... mujhe problem Arnav se bhi utni nahi thi... jitni uske fans ke justifications se thi 😅. I mean... gray character ko gray hi rehne do... don't try to whitewash or make him mahan. Wo jaisa hai... aise hi suit karta hai iss story ko.

I'm not saying Khushi was perfect... she wasn't. But uski galtiyan were more out of naivety than any actual ill will. Arnav had a huge temper, was cutting and rude in speech, slightly violent too. Let's be honest none of us would like to be with someone like Arnav in real life.

Of course this begs the question ke fir mene dekha hi kyun IPK.. what am I even doing here?

The answer to this is the exact reason you guys love Arnav so much... because Barun managed to make us forget that shaitan side... we would wait for the rajkumar to come out. The actors and their chemistry was what attracted us to IPK... and also the reason why it is dubbed in other languages instead of being re-made. The story was fairly average... but the cast and crew elevated it to the heights it reached .

I may like Khushi more... but on the whole, I'm more of an Arshi... or rather IPK fan (because it would be incomplete without all the other characters ).

I completely agree with you... wouldn't want to watch real characters... fiction hai so kuch chize to expected hai ki they will be out of usual norms.

Which is why I said mujhe problem Arnav se utni nahi thi jitne uske fans ke justifications se thi. I mean why try to justify that sort of behavior at all... galat hai toh hai. It's not necessary ki jo character hamara fav ho... wo hamesha sahi ho har situation me. I think most fans have a problem with accepting that... this leads to all the wars. We need to accept that they're flawed characters and stop trying to glorify them.

You're right that Arnav's arc was worth watching... in fact the whole story of IPK is about the shaitan becoming rajkumar

But I'll also admit I would have liked a more focused redemption track... especially after the truth about Shyam came out. First time jab they started showing mushy Arnav during Payash wedding track, it was a gradual progression... we saw how Arnav slowly fell for Khushi... changed his attitude. That was so well done.

On the other hand, after the kidnapping, he blamed her (in that poolside scene which was so well acted by both of them 🥺) and uske baad.. jab best time tha ek acha sorry track daalne ka.. tab they showed him bossing her around... and taking her back home forcefully 🤦🏻‍♀️. Fan wars (which had already peaked during Barun's absence and kidnapping track) got even more ugly at this point... mainly because he had no logical reason to be doing so. Thoda ruthna manana dikha dete to kya jata 🤦🏻‍♀️. The post Rakshabandhan scene was so good... soft Arnav gifting her thoughtful items... aise thode aur scenes ki jarurat thi bas. Instead.. Dadi came... and bas.. fir to dhire dhire downward slope start ho gaya IPK ka. Even now, when I rewatch their remarriage scenes, I mostly fast forward all that Dadi-Garima drama. And uske baad Sheetal and Mrs. India track ki to baat hi nahi karni . Tab dukh hua tha.. but looking back, I think it's for the best that IPK ended when it did.

If you notice, starting me jab Arnav was actually far more rude... even making her fall from his office and all that... tab utne fan wars nahi huye. Ye sab problems baad me start hui... as the story begin to deteriorate.. and partially because of the actor's unavailability, etc. I'm not blaming him for going after better opportunities... but uss time pe fans ke liye it was like dhoka . Abhi agar you come across any discussions about the serial... it will be all calm and methodical... even what we are doing right now is quite peaceful. But tab the energy on the forum was quite different... and aise me ek comment se jo spark hota tha wo wildfire ki tarah pure forum pe feil jata tha.. and then everyone would start getting involved and make multiple posts about it . Lekin thik hai... wo bhi ek experience tha

I completely agree with your two points:

• A redemption track was definitely necessary; it was our desperate yearning.

• The show had run its course, and though its ending was difficult to accept at the time, it was for the best.

Unfortunately the creative team squandered precious time on the Sheetal and Mrs. India tracks. After the kidnapping, the story should have naturally led to a redemption track one where Khushi took her own time to heal from the hurt inflicted upon her, and Arnav truly realised the depths of his mistakes and how badly he had messed up things ( specially after poolside blame on Khushi ) . Then, and only then, they should have found their way back to each other , whole, forgiven, and forever.

Had they taken this route, it would have elevated IPK to even greater heights, Aur char Chand lag jate . But alas, it remained an unfulfilled wish, lost in the pages of what could have been.

In a way, I am glad the show ended when it did. Otherwise, it might have dragged on, losing the magic that made it so dear to us.

The remarriage track never quite matched with magic of Payal’s wedding . Perhaps the redemption should have come immediately after the kidnapping, or, alternatively, fate should have intervened Arnav never reaching the wedding because of accident or whatever other reason then Khushi refusing to forgive him, the story unfolding differently.

I still clearly remember the atmosphere on the forum during that time. The sense of betrayal was overwhelming . For many of us , this show had become a cherished part of daily life, and the changes felt like losing something deeply personal.

I still remember when someone first posted about Barun leaving the show, and my God, how brutally the entire forum dismissed it. The member who shared it was mercilessly bashed, even though, it turned out to be true.

Truth to be told, I never participated in controversial or explosive debates. I was more of a silent observer, enjoying the spectacle with popcorn in hand.

But I would be lying if I said the abrupt ending didn’t sting , It did more because it ended on the same day of very special occasion of my life which I celebrate every year and then it reminds me of IPK , But I think it was for the best. Who knows how many more frustrating tracks they would have added? And honestly, I can’t imagine anyone else playing Arnav. . Bhai koi aaye jaye Arnav and Khushi to Barun and sanaya hi the , hain aur rahenge . I can’t imagine anyone playing them

I am absolutely loving this discussion - It’s like revisiting a cherished moment from the past

I cried when the show ended and was sad for a long time after. The forum helped at that time because it was still buzzing (even if a lot of it was negative energy)... at least it didn't let me miss IPK so much.

But I agree, aur koi Arnav / new ML banta to maza nahi aata... it's better that they ended it on a happy note instead of ruining the whole experience just for the sake of dragging the story endlessly.

I was also a silent member back then... only became active since 2020 (Covid times) .

Yes... it will be about IPK... but it's a game... not a discussion thread. We will probably start the sign up from around 10th March .

There is also going to be another contest after that... in April. In case you are a writer / make graphics. Even if you don't, it will be fun seeing the entries afterwards .

Meanwhile, you should check Mysticaldivine's posts in the forum... they are mostly in the top two pages. She does excellent analysis works on Arshi... and her posts are full of beautiful edits . She somehow makes the scenes even more magical than they were in the show

couldn't agree more. But sometimes we tend to lean slightly more towards one character - may be because we resonate more with their thought process, relate to their experiences or It could be due to the emotions they evoke in us or simply their journey . they simply just leave deeper impact.

so true . i like to even add opposite gender attraction also play a vital role ,

as u said resonance too . We get attracted to people or characters either who are of the same wavelength or to the ones who are opposites to us .
