Jun Ji-Hyun has reportedly turned down the Korean remake of the 'Americans' show. It was tentatively titled as 'Koreanz'. Jun Ji-Hyun has apparently allotted the dates to the series HumanXGumiho that has Ji Chang-wook in the lead. Her agency Peachy Company has said that Koreanz was one of the scripts she was reviewing but ultimately decided to let go of the script. It seems she cannot manage time to film both of them simultaneously. The series would have been directed by Ahn Gil-Ho who has earlier helmed superhit series like The Glory and Stranger. The Glory on Netflix had Song Hye-kyo as lead and was a global sensation.
It seems the spy thriller show Americans is based in the 1980s when there was a Cold War. Likewise, the Korean series will be when the nation faced a dictatorship. In 1945, Korea was divided into North and South Korea after the Japanese surrender. There was a war, which got halted due to the intervention to the US. Then, South Korea saw democratic governments and autocracy too. There was military dictatorship in the 1960s. It seems Lee Byung-Hun is confirmed as the main male lead of the show. Jun Ji-Hyun was supposed to play his better half.
Lee Byung-Hun's recent movie No Other Choice is getting rave reviews from all over. It is directed by Park Chan-wook. Before that, he was seen in Squid Game 3 where he plays The Frontman. Jun Ji-Hyun's Disney Plus show Tempest just got over some days back. She played a former UN ambassador Seo Moon-joo whose live takes a drastic turn after demise of her husband, who is a presidential candidate. Jun Ji-Hyun played a troubled widowed diplomat who has to stop a war in the Korean Peninsula. Kang Dongwon was her hero in the series. The electrifying chemistry between the two is the talk of the town.
Fans saw Jun Ji-Hyun as Seo Moon-joo in the recently concluded series, Tempest on Disney Plus. The series is still in the Global Top 10 and her performance is getting a lot of love. It seems she has to opt out of Americans remake with Lee Byung-Hun due to some conflicting date schedules. She is one of the highest paid actresses there.
