Disastrous year!! According to Sacnilk, Bollywood only did 4000 Cr . That's like $ 458 Million as an industry.

For comparison, a single film like Inside Out 2 does $ 650 million+ just domestically in the US. Things look even bleaker when you factor in the fact that almost half of that collection comes from a South Dubbed film & Stree 2. Easily the worst Theatrical year footfall wise since 2002-2003. Bollywood is in the ICU, kept alive by funds from the OTT platforms.

All that said, '24 didn't have many big ticket releases other than Fighter, Stree 2 & Singham. '25 should be a lot better. We might even see an unpredictable hit from the unhinged Himesh Reshammiya next week.

Oh, of course, who am I to decide for others? Hopefully, the producers I’ve never met (and never will) make more crores next year, so I can feel happy and satisfied… despite not seeing a single penny from it.

I get your point, but if this shift happens - this would actually further enable those nepo babies whose film flop, they will use their PR to spin the story, which is something Varun has tried to do already. Whats problematic is that these nepo babies are the very reason for Bollywood's downfall.

Bollywood has plenty of problems, but nepotism isn’t the big one. Y’all stay obsessed with an issue that doesn’t even affect you, maybe let the actual struggling outsiders worry about it? Netflix drops 10 releases, and the one that gets the most hype is a Ibrahim-Khushi film. Lol, guess nepotism sells after all. The real issue? Bollywood is so desperate for big numbers that it's losing its own identity, chasing South-style formulas that just don’t fit.

bold: I see this danger, too...actually, the 'masala' has lost its spice with other 'flavours' of the current time...sadly

Even those scanty OTT releases like LL don’t make up for the fact that 2024 was a mid year in Hindi cinema. Bollywood has had a pretty forgettable decade overall.

I also liked these two movies. Apart from these movies, I liked Maharaj very much. But the movie didn't become successful.

I tried to watch Maharaj, competed only one episode.

Will resume from this weekend as it seems a good one as per your experience
